I am quite fond of Magna Carta, but I must admit I had not heard of that album; the RPO playing Magna compositions seems a bit like taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

One of my fave records ever.

Easy evil - John Kay (the voice of Steppenwolf)

It's the Davey Johnston era band - from 1971.

The RPO only play on one track. Ok, it's a thirty-minute Johnny Dankworth orchestration of Seasons!

Aretha Franklin compilation, including my favourite soul song, I Never Loved a Man(The Way I Love You)

Ewan McLennan - The Rolling Hills of the Borders

Thank you kindly for your comments. I would say the same about the contributions of you and all of the other posters above. I had discovered McLennan via the very fine "Whistling the Esperanza" but John Kay, solo, is new to me. It's good - but can I hear a bit of Timmy Thomas backing in it from the previous year?

On Magna Carta, I could have named "Highways To Spain" but that is the limit of what I know of them!

I can't recall if I have posted this before. I only found it a few months ago. Ecstatic at the time as it
wasn't at all what I expected. Also, for some reason it felt like adding to the detail around the early 70s development of Van Morrison although any similarities may be coincidental. From the eponymous album:

Link Wray - Black River Swamp

Very dissonant and manic.

It's what Britain will be like when the Government starts fracking. Thanks for that one, the great Young Gifted and Black and the sheer sanity of Joy Division Oven Gloves.

I liked this one too.

The Michael Ball Show on Radio 2. One of the best evening shows they provide. He's a natural that boy!

Famously said, when asked if he would do Eurovision again, that he'd rather stick a needle in his eye. A sensible man. I don't often venture into BBC R2 but thought he was a very good stand in for Ken Bruce recently and a lot better than him.

Ball lives with Cathy McGowan, of course, who is nearly 20 years his senior which that way around must be something of a record. As is this but it's the unofficial video - which only makes brief appearances on YT before it is removed - that makes it:

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Round and Round

Royal Blood - Ten Tonne Skeleton

They're great!
