Pointless missing episode

So there I am, along with many other people it seems that I found on'tinternet waiting in anticipation to see who won the accumulated jackpot of £19/£20K this week and they skip over it, starting a new one of £1,000.

WTF?!?!?!

I realise now that these are repeats but have only just got into this - so where is it and why didn't they broadcast it?

Series 7 Episode 60 first broadcast on 21st November 2012 is missing on iPlayer and is not on my Virgin catch-up.

Bloody frustrating! Angry

Anyone know why it wasn't shown?

After a bit more thorough research have found out that there was a mistake on the head to head (not that it made much of a difference to the outcome in my opinion) and the last 20 minutes of that show are on YouTube if anyone else out there is interested:-

Great! Apart from the bloody annoying advert interruptions!!!!

What I'm still annoyed about though is the Beeb not offering any explanation whatsoever and in typical arrogant fashion have left viewers frustrated yet again. Angry

Ah, I thought I'd just missed it. What a weird decision, they've been going on about how it's their biggest jackpot ever for days.
I didn't know it was repeats either. I only usually see the end of the show.

I've been looking for it myself, most confusing. Thanks for the link HGT Wave

And having watched it, as you say it made no difference but I think calling it a mistake (not your good-self) would be a bit picky.

I can't watch it right now, but what happened, did no one get the money?

Do you really want me to lay a spoiler on you? :|

According to the comments on the YouTube clip, they said Henry Fox Norton when the answer on the board was William Henry Fox Norton.

Fox Talbot. Cool

He is actually known as Henry Fox Talbot - in all my years in the photography trade I have never seen him referred to as William etc.

Memory fail. And that's just between changing screens.

The other pair correctly named 'sensor' as the light-sensitive photo-element in a digital camera, but this was deemed a wrong answer in place of 'pixel'.

Ah, that does alter things then. I incorrectly assumed it was some pedantry over whatsisface's Christian names :(

What we'll never know is how many people said "sensor", but I suspect that it would have been quite high, which means of course that the Fox Talbot answer would have won it with only 2.

I think though that it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth that such a crucial final with £20k up for grabs should have been better researched.

Richard Osman has gone down in my estimation. :S

The BBC decided the prize was too big and that licence fee payers would object so they pretended.

From the BBC FAQ site ...

"Pointless - Wednesday 20 August 2014
We've received enquiries about the scheduling of Pointless on Wednesday 20 August 2014 and the jackpot that wasn't won at the end of the episode shown on Tuesday 19 August 2014.

The episode shown on Tuesday 19 August was a repeat of episode 59 of series 7.

When episode 60 of series 7 was originally broadcast in 2012, a query was raised around the phrasing of one of the questions. This had no bearing on the outcome of the show, but on balance we decided it was best not to repeat episode 60.

As a result, episode 61 was broadcast on Wednesday 20 August.

This decision was made as accuracy is of the utmost importance on Pointless, but we do apologise for any confusion to audiences."

"This had no bearing on the outcome of the show",
Then show the bloody thing. Angry
