A couple of producers have told me this, so yeah it's fact. The BBC are swimming in media shows.

My sitcom is slightly media based (though it's about the media (or not) in the same way that Seinfeld is about being a stand up comic or Friends is about Monica being Chef - It's just their jobs, when the show itself is character driven.

They want broader shows, not media related stuff.

Maybe I should add though, I've been told to change mine, although I won't know to what extent until I've spoken to the right people, but I wouldn't commit myself to a media based show just yet.

when you say "media" would that mean my idea would be no good because it is in a docu soap styley?

I would say so.

Obviously, don't quote me on that, but I think it's unlikely a docu-soap sitcom will get made for a long long time.

There's been some high profile ones, and the BBC want audience stuff really.

I'd say it's worth having a look at the commissioning section of the BBC as well.

Isn't that more of a technical document - it's all laws and stuff isn't it?

They do go into detail about what sort of stuff they're after in the different genres and for what channel.

For instance, for BBC 1 sitcoms it mentions they're after post watershed non-family based pieces.

You should post a link in this to the 3&4 thread.(Edit your original post and cut and paste the link to 3&4 at the end and then post a link to this thread at the end of 3&4) that way people may read your piece in total. At the moment you have this at the top of the page and 3&4 almost off the front page and once things fall into page 2 they are very rarely commented on.

Since I've made that cheeky little request on your thread Wayne, I feel I ought to comment on your piece. I did like it and the concept, but like someone on here said there might be too many of a similar set-up currently about. But the whole zombie/normal person thing is very cool.
