Robin Williams RIP Page 2

...rather than the big commercial movies in OTT character roles.

He wasted too much of his talent in those ones...still not as frustrating as Nicholas Cage.

There was this year when he played in two thrillers...One Hour Photo and Insomnia. He should have played more of these straight roles instead of childish crap like Flubber.

Definitely. The studios used him like a cartoon character. He had great adult dramatic potential because he had such a deep and complicated personality.

It would have been weirder if he didn't do family films. Why not both? But I agree that some had more substance than others.

So sad. RIP.

Both great films, he did an exceedingly good silently sinister type, one of my favourite films of his is Awakenings.

Gutted to hear the news, RIP and thanks for the joy.

Quite literally in Aladdin and Popeye (which I think is much better than it's reputation suggests).

Above all the film, TV and stage work, he just seemed like such a nice man. Dying at a young age is one thing, but knowing he was mentally in such a bad place in his closing momemts is a real shame.

Just read quite an interesting article on why the funniest people are often also the saddest. It's here if anyone is interested - http://time.com/3103256/robin-williams-comedians-depression/

So sad that he's died but what's even more sad was that it always seemed so inevitable but yet it still couldn't be stopped.

I always thought he'd have made a good Riddler in Batman.

Yes, I agree.

I was aware he'd had troubles with cocaine in his past, so always suspected he had some sort of inner demons. However, this news was a real shock.

I'll always love Mrs Doubtfire and One Hour Photo is a disturbingly good performance.

Oh bollocks

I thought Robbie Williams had died

Shazbot

How did I not mention Good Will Hunting?! He's fantastic in that and deserved his Oscar.

That's my favourite of his films, I think.

Only just remembered looking at some obituaries that Mork first appeared (so I remember) in Happy Days although I never saw that episode.

Not a great fan of the Fonz. I thought being cool he was a tosser.

Quote from Ricky Gervais - probably years ago.

Telling people with depression to "just snap out of it" is about as useful as telling people with cancer to "just stop having cancer".

I got Mork and Mindy on DVD a while back

Sadly it's AWFUL

Even the delicious, angelic , beautiful goddess Pam Bawber can't save it
