Advice pls! What to do with my jokes?

Hey guys, kinda random situation here.

About 4 weeks ago I was thinking about something and, unexpectedly, a joke formed around it.

In the time since, I have hardly been able to resist racking my brain for other jokes. So far, I have come up with about 120 one liners... My day job doesn't require much thought!...

I can honestly say the these are mine and that any resemblance to other peoples jokes is coincidental. They have just come from scouring words or phrases in my head and trying to find a joke in them.

So, question is, what to do with this?

Can I send my material to be looked at by someone who could provide feedback and suggestions about how to proceed.... Or give up!?

I've always loved a good stand up or comedy program and have massive respect for comedian, but have never considered myself to ever have what it takes to attempt to become or. Perhaps for good reason?

So, if not standup, what else can I do with these if any of them are any good?

Lets say one of my one-liners is dynamite... Where's profit to be found?

Printing it on tshirts? selling it to a magazine? Perhaps a Christmas cracker company!!!!?

Im not necessarily persuing a career in stand up, but if I can make couple of quid on th side it'd be nice to have some advice on how.

Many thanks for your patience and replies.

Ah this perenial question and a hardy one at that.

First of all no one's queuing up to buy jokes, sorry. It's like selling supermarket carrier bags most people just swipe them.

Your best bet is to get a rep and that means getting your jokes out there, twitter, sickipedia whatever.

Then emailing people who might want jokes and hoping they bite. It's considerably harder to sell joke then write one.

And a word of warning don't be sure your jokes are either good enough or original enough. Take your courage in both hands and stick some in critique get some feedback most people write atleast a 1000 before they sell one to anyone. Goodluck,

Thank you SootyJ.

Looks like I gotta decide whether to peruse this is leave it to others.

Be good to get some advice on this front,

Any recommended material critics?

Cheers

I thought the going rate was bundles of ten for a penny. Thats what others have said here?

Critique is the only one I'd reccomend

I guess you mean pursue this.Keep going - you never know what might happen. If you can churn them out in abundance then you're lucky - or good.

Would they work on greetings cards? Look up the Writers & Artists yearbook.

Card companies will buy jokes, but mostly they prefer their own contracted writers

Yeah... Sorry for the pants spelling (predictive text issues!) And thank you for your replies and your time..

Will follow up on the suggestions, since they are all one-liners, I guess cards would be a good fit.

Failing that, I could try sell em in tens. Marc P, I make that to be well over a quid! :O)

Really appreciate all your input.

Before you're start selling get some objective feedback

Don't let a potential punter be the first one to tell you to do bettet

There are no set rules to selling any writing. Luck and putting yourself about is about your best chance.
There isn't a shop or agency that accepts jokes, you have to get your foot in the door.

Put some of them in critique and you will be told if they are good or not.
