Who are your favourite funny ladies? Page 5

It was both uplifting and depressing to see Linda Smith on the I Love 1988 programme. What the Hell are we doing with today's comedians?

I think that was her in Jonathan Creek tonight.

Correction. It was Hattie Hayridge.

Linda wasn't an actress, apart from performing in her own radio sitcom.

I think I always thought they were one and the same. I was convinced Linda was in Red Dwarf but turns out it was Hattie.

Sarah Silverman, Ellen DeGeneres, Sarah Millican

In writing a list I came up with over 60 names until I realized you'd probably just want my absolute favourites.

Stand-Ups:

All-Time:
- Victoria Wood.
- Jo Brand.

Current:
- Katherine Ryan.
- Sara Pascoe.

Sitcom:

All-Time:
- Jennifer Saunders.
- Victoria Wood.

Current:
- Tamsin Greig.
- Jessica Hynes.

Sketch Show:

All-Time:
- French & Saunders.
- Smack The Pony.

Current:
- Watson & Oliver.
- Anna & Katy.

Special Mention:

- Josie Lawrence.
- Carolina Aherne.
- Nina Conti.

American:

- Amy Poehler.
- Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
- Sarah Silverman.
- Kate McKinnon.
- 2 Broke Girls. (Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs)

Victoria Wood has always been a firm favourite of mine. Her live one woman show I saw was brilliant, some excellent observational comedy from her and such a brilliant comedy writer.
Mel and Sue have natural comic timing and I find them funny.
Beryl Reed was a superb comic actress.
My all time favourite funny pair is French and Saunders because they have never been afraid to try things. Sometimes I agree it doesn't work, but when it does works I think they can hit comedy gold.
When you think about it, there are many excellent funny ladies.

Mel and Sue? Are you having a laugh?

I like Caroline Aherne, Sarah Milican, Princess Ann (she doesn't realise we are laughing at her not with her) that bird in bridemaids, Lucy Porter, that bird in Curb Your Enthusiasm who hates Larry ("yeah, I'll give you my email address, it's ihatelarry@..") Mrs Doyle and Meg off Family Guy.

Mel and Sue? Are you having a laugh?

I find them funny, is that OK? Clue is in the title of the thread. Who are your favourite funny ladies?
It would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing.

Mel and Sue are brilliant.

Ok here goes (even though I will certainly forget at least one person) :

Josie Long, Maria Bamford, Sara Pascoe, Amy Howerska, Jen Murphy, Celia Pacquola, Katie Lane, Saskia Preston, Elf Lyons, Sarah Millican, Amy Schumer, Carly Smallman, Sarah Callaghan, Katerina Vrana, Madge Hooks, Maeve Higgins, Eleanor Tiernan, Bridget Christie, Aideen McQueen, Jen Kirkman, Mae Martin.

That's a long list to get through :)

I love Amy Schumer though, her 'abusive couple' sketch from IAS was hilarious :)
