The Pixies were indeed good.
I hope Dolly Parton invites Jack White on to sing Jolene with her. Don't think it'll happen though.
Bryan Ferry was surprisingly great (available on catch-up). I didn't expect to stick with him very long, but his youngish band and backing singers were amazing, and more than covered up for his less than stellar vocal delivery. His drummer was incredible - like a cross between Serena Williams and Tina Turner, with power and personality to match.
Nice lead guitarist, and guitar-legend Chris Spedding on guitar duties too.
Good choice of material with loads of early Roxy - great version of "Virginia Plain". Even the slower numbers had a bit of oomph, thanks to the band.
Really the band were the star, with Ferry along for the ride. Must take guts though to do a whistle solo on your final number - "Jealous Guy" - in front of such a large crowd.
Yes, Guy Garvey can't whistle for toffee.
Metallica - sorry don't get the joke.

When the Pixies played "Here Comes Your Man" my 15 year-old daughter was forced to re-appraise what she had thought were a bunch of pensioners making a racket.
Pixies are one of those bands I've always missed out on and mean to investigate. Still don't know any of their stuff although I may know something without realising it was them.

You are, of course, right.
I now feel a chump - and an un-cool one at that.

...and Debaser.
And as a Bowie fan, Chappers, you surely know Cactus (on Bowie's Heathen album, originally a Pixies song).

Do I? I'd better check it out again. Not one of my preferred Bowie albums.
Apart from the Next Day extras album my last favourite was Black Tie, White Noise.

I agree with you on The Next Day...not sure about BTWN, although there are some good songs on it. On the other hand no album since his 90's "comeback" comes near being a classic. If I'd have to chose two I'd go for Next Day...and maybe Outside, because it was his bravest, most experimental record of the last 25 years and it has I'm Deranged on it. What a cool track!
Anyway, I haven't seen much of Glastonbury yet, because I'm not that keen on many of the acts (lilly Allen etc.)...and of course I'm too busy watching the world cup.
I've enjoyed Robert Plant's gig a lot yesterday...would have loved to see (the) Pixies, but none of you gits has told me about (where are you when you're needed, George! )
Dolly Parton playing the Benny Hill theme FTW

Saw that. I half-wondered if it was faked. Dolly way too weird for me.
Really liked what I caught of the Brian Jonestown Massacre:
Coolest maracas player since early/mid 1960s Mick Jagger.

FWIW, the theme tune to 'Boardwalk Empire' is their song 'Straight Up & Down'.
