Ever gone viral? Page 2

I used to post jokes on Sickipedia that I'd written. A couple of those did the rounds on Twitter and stuff if they got onto the front page.

I think the one I've seen around most was:

This girl came up to me today and said she recognised me from vegetarian club.

I was confused, I'd never met herbivore.

In the early days of YouTube I wrote a sweary tirade about the tube to the tune of Going Underground by The Jam, and it got millions of hits. It was my first foray into comedy and I guess I'm very grateful to it, as it ultimately paved the way for me writing full-time.

I know you I follow you on Twitter

So what what was the chain of events which led from the bit where you went viral, to the bit where you became a full-time writer?

Well done you I love that song.

After that went I viral, I went from a "for-fun" comedy song performer to a vaguely "in-demand" comedy song performer, which left me in a position financially to quit being a doctor. When I realised I didn't enjoy having completely empty days and busy evenings, I decided to give TV writing a crack. My first writing gig was on a BBC3 show called Mongrels, which I got because the show included songs. As TV writing got much busier I was able to scale back the gigging hugely, and I now only do a few gigs a year, making me a full-time writer.

Or more than full-time currently, as it's a Sunday lunchtime and I'm sat in a windowless BBC office trying to work out what's wrong with episode five before they shoot it tomorrow.

Ye Gods it's Doc Tim mark 2, in the end there can only be one.

Thanks for the reply, Adam. Great work, too.

Tough but fair.

Good stuff, I remember that. Did the rounds amongst my friend on facebook.

Bussell went viral last year. Twice!

I doubt he's going to contribute to this thread though.

I downloaded a tool bar and that went viral. Take that wherever you will.

He'll be back!

No, he'll never venture back to BCG.

Although, saying that, he did give up his long enforced, vegetarian standpoint. So, who knows?
