So what what was the chain of events which led from the bit where you went viral, to the bit where you became a full-time writer?
After that went I viral, I went from a "for-fun" comedy song performer to a vaguely "in-demand" comedy song performer, which left me in a position financially to quit being a doctor. When I realised I didn't enjoy having completely empty days and busy evenings, I decided to give TV writing a crack. My first writing gig was on a BBC3 show called Mongrels, which I got because the show included songs. As TV writing got much busier I was able to scale back the gigging hugely, and I now only do a few gigs a year, making me a full-time writer.
Or more than full-time currently, as it's a Sunday lunchtime and I'm sat in a windowless BBC office trying to work out what's wrong with episode five before they shoot it tomorrow.
