Just read that the Ramones first album has gone Gold nearly 40 years after its release.

The Band is a fantastic album and I'm sure the DeepPurple one is a classic.

I don't think The ramones were all that big in the US were they ?

They fared better abroad

I love nearly everything I've heard by the Fall and I don't know why they weren't more popular. Probably Mark E's attitude. But they're not one of those groups you like just because it's hip. Their music was just so good.

The Band is a fantastic album

This is the J. Geils Band's debut...but the cover is indeed very similar to The Band's second album. And both albums are great examples of basic American rock n roll.

I have only this compilation by them: http://www.allmusic.com/album/458489-a-sides-mw0000690551

I'm loving it. Maybe I should check out their albums in the near future.

Shit. Shows how much I concentrated. Did like the J Geils Band too although the only album of theirs I have (somewhere on vinyl) is the one with Centrefold on it.

There's one . .

I was listening to the first three songs...sounds like a smashing live album!
So far I have two compilations (one covering their seventies stuff, the other covering the eighties/centrefold+) and the debut album. A live album has to be my next choice.

To let you know in advance next monday 30th June on the Paul Jones show Radio 2 at 7pm they're playing a recent live Wilko Johnson gig.

I like it. I'd wish the latest Who album (Endless Wire) had one or two songs as powerful as this on it.
