Am I as funny as I thought?! Page 5

Yes spelling has never been a strong point of mine and the thread question was more to get people
Interested and wanting to have a look and help me out. I'm not a scummy little chav with nothing better to do I've got a good job nice house and doing quite well for someone of my age I'm just interested in comedy didnt think spelling was much of a problem as I'm looking to write for myself not other people any help would be appreciated. Saying no your not funny dosent really help me.

Your jokes are not funny, not because they ageist or racists or any other ist. To answer your question "Am I as funny as I thought?" you might well be but the jokes you posted were not. Sorry

Write some more stuff using the feedback you've received, the ones you posted are dead in the water so can't really find anything to say about them.

Brainstorm the news, I found/find Twitter to be a good discipline as you've got to get the jokes to fit 140 characters. Sorry can't advise on stand up as I've never been inclined to try that but the advice of writing lots more than you'll actually need is good, say it out loud after writing to see if it sounds natural.
Have a nose around the threads on here like the Skit Comp, Writers Discussion etc to get a feel for different writing styles....etc etc.

As for the spelling, it does matter when you post on here, you can scribble any old way writing at home for yourself but if on a forum others have to read and understand it and it can make a difference to how you come across.

Thanks for the advice I will come up with some new jokes and you can let me no what you think

Do you come across?

Hello Olliet. I read your initial jokes last night but unfortunately I didn't find them funny at all. Nothing to do with racist or whatever.

There's too much to read on here in between but you asked for constructive criticism. Not being funny it's difficult to know how to be constructive.

This is just your words on paper/screen and vocally you may have a presentation that people enjoy. Your presentation may make the stuff better.

I think you are the joke, and not a funny one at that.

Yeah I was trying to get at that myself as reading jokes on here from anyone unless there one liners there rarley that funny. Alot of it is about the act and how you tell the joke. Just look at people like micheal McIntyre in my opinion nothing he says is actually funny but how he tells the jokes and gets the audience it's amazing. The think I'm worried about is that my jokes arnt that funny and I no when I do my first stand up I will be shitting myself so to begin with I really need to make sure my jokes are funny, and comments like yours are sort of what I'm looking for so thanks.

For someone just starting out it's not very helpfull really. I take it from your comment you are a successful comic? If not keep your dull unfunny comments to yourself

Does that chatup line work with clowns?

There are a load of people on here who've done stand-up. They'll tell you how long an act a new comedian gets - 5 minutes? You have to get enough material to fill this time unless you can think on your feet.

And probably the first time just stick it out and hope you last the course. This could be the case in more than just stand-up. You've got to be able to handle abuse.

No I am not a successful comic. I just like not keeping my dull unfunny comments to myself.

Ahh I see so you failed so you hope everyone else does too? That's cute like a child without a ice-cream Teary

Yeah I'm not expecting my first few times to go well just want as much prep as possible going to go the open mic nights alone at first just to build my confidence and get me on my way.

Your audience aren't successful comics.

And success is yes - failing less than other people.

I'm guessing most arnt hence they spend alot of time on a forum but advice from anyone is good. Just being a c**t isn't helpful so I don't want to hear c**tish comments from someone with no idea what there talking about. Rant over I need a beer

Why are posters like flies circling dog shut

Why can't you be like humble bees circling roses
