Laughing out loud

Though you might not be in the slightest bit interested; :) I have just put 4 items for sale on eBay each with a high nominal price and an invitation to make offers, instead of bidding as an auction.

Not interested in the items, sorry, but I am interested in your sales strategy; please tell us how it works out.

I dislike the way the eBay auctions have devolved into pretty much silence until the last day or last 5 mins because now the seller has no idea what was going on & I suspect many items were sold at very low value, hardly worth the bother of putting them on ebay.

I think this Best Offer facility on fixed price items has been there for a while, but only when eBay changed recently to allowing 20 free placements per month did it become practical to try it. I don't recall exactly, but I think eBay pricing for initial placement was high if you set a high starting price or high fixed price. Now for 20 placements per month it is free. {but still 10% commission on the actual sale}.

Anyway I see a reasonable number of viewings but no offers yet.

Well things do go mad in the last couple of minutes, but plenty of people are in touch with the seller for days beforehand with questions etc. I'm not aware of many things on there selling at a very low value unless it's something that has little demand.

Ben's just remembered he's got something from the library which is now overdue. He best get his arse down there tomorrow morning or it could be financial hell again.

You could always wait until the fine is bigger than the value of the library. Then buy the library, cancel the fine and sell off the library again.

Ben dropped his car off at the garage for an MOT and service. He is eagerly awaiting a phonecall advising "no parts required".

Ben only needed some dust cover thing to get through his MOT, so it wasn't too expensive. A few advisory notes from the service caused some concern, but nothing major. Need to get a coolant flush and a new gasket for the gearbox as it's got a tiny leak.

Trying to work out what sort of phone tariff to get my teen. Reading that people waste an average of £195 a year by being on the wrong contract...

My girlfriend's little sister just ran up a £65 phone bill and her mum went mental.

Personally, I'd buy them one of those 30 Day contract thingies and if they use their credit, tough luck! No risk of over charges. If there's an emergency situation? Maybe there's an app or setting on the phone that will reserve the last 10 mins of talk time each month?

Feeling a bit better about my course. Most of the others are struggling as well.
Also feeling better about some work stuff. Earlier in the week the entire office was given a task. I essentially understand the goal but was finding the process and times frame much different to how it was explained. I felt really stupid as it seems like it should be simple, but talked to others today and found they were having trouble as well.

Still not sure how to get everything done, but overall feel slightly less stupid than I did at the start of the week.
....
Rant over
