Just checking on the laws of the game because I seemed to remember things about Offside had changed and this was the case.

"gaining an advantage by being in that position" means playing a ball that rebounds to him off a goalpost or the crossbar having been in an offside position or playing a ball that rebounds to him off an opponent having been in an offside position.

So if you're in an offside position already you can't be "played onside by a defender".

I don't think a lot of supporters or even pundits actually know all the laws.

I hope Switzerland is luckier today than England.

We bloody were...last second goal.

Congrats Gordon. Great result!

Thanks Jenny!

I think it's best NOT to have goal line technology.

I missed the first half but I think there will be more red cards in this match.

Croatia's players are refusing to talk to World Cup media after photos of them were published bathing nude in their hotel pool, coach Niko Kovac says.
The blackout was enforced after two photographers hid in bushes near the team hotel and took pictures of players that appeared online.
"How would you feel if someone took naked pictures of you?" Kovac told a press conference in Praia do Forte.
"They are adamant that they won't speak to you lot any more."

Kovac added: "I respect my players' opinion and I also know that you have done a very professional job so far but you blew it with this one.

:O

The whole world has seen the photos.
"It's easy for me to talk but I'm not part of this story. I respect their opinion. What can I do? I cannot pull them by the ears and say, 'let's go talk to media'."

What would you pull them by then?

What a great goal by Messi !

Looks like Portugal are going the same way as their neighbours Spain.

And according to the commentator the starting 11 for Portugal was the same as for their last game in Euro 2012.

This shows either that they haven't got any good young players coming through or their is too much players power.

One thing I have to say is that the usually impetuous Ronaldo - being their captain too - took the sending off of his team mate with a shrugging acceptance.

Portugal dead and buried. Great free kick by Ronaldo at the end though. Ghana and USA won't be easy games, so they could be going home early.

I heard a stat earlier that out of the last 40 or so teams to lose their first group game in the World Cup, only 4 have managed to go through to the next round. Not good for England or Portugal.

But that included Spain who lost to Switzerland in the last competition and went on to win it.

Why so many yellow "boots"? And also several seem to have one blue and one pink boot.

Makes the boys wink.

Dan

Fellaini scored earlier, so why didn't he score a single goal for Man Utd last season?!

Probably something to do with Rooney.

Rooney to score against Uruguay!

With so much live football on TV does anybody really care what the so-called experts have to say? What a terrible waste of time and money sending them out there. I turn on the match at kick-off time and switch off when the final whistle blows!

He's playing in a better team now.
