How do you do microresearch?

Personally, I can't be bothered to read a whole book on urology just to make a simple dick joke. I like quick and dirty.

YouTube

There's a whole bunch of random stuff on here. Old documentaries, commercial material, clips, basement-dwelling freaks. Worth a try.

Reddit

This place has a subreddit for every conveyable interest. What hot topics are kids who are into macramé discussing? If your character just spent £10,000 on a Barbie Doll what would they get for that? Very useful for browsing or asking specific questions.

Any others?

Piss off.

I'm old skool much as it's discredited I like Wiki for a summary, if it's no use it can point you in the useful direction.

Piss off.

Dangerous though.

Is microresearch done by microentrepreneurs for Mike?

Piss off.

Rude.

I go with my strengths

Never mind 'microresearch', brush up on grammar to begin with...

Maybe you'll remember to scrub up too Dr W before you go thrusting your hands up in search of reality TV fame. Really that sort of behaviour is best left to Big Brother and girls from Essex!

I only ever write about five different characters, three of which I know like the back of my hand, and two of which are devoid of personality and basically just exist for one of the first three to talk at. I just give them different names and jobs. Sometimes I Wiki the jobs, or watch a YouTube video on them if it's under five minutes. Next time, I'll Google an AMA with someone who does that job.

...two of which are devoid of personality

Then you only write three different characters.

Woosh.

Just sying...

The Queen talking to Dick Van Dyke and his pet parrot? There's three more for you.

What do you mean?

Conveyable? That was just an (admittedly bizarre) typo.

AMA's a reddit thing, isn't it?

Yes.
