14 1 40 DOB There were lots of curry shops in Sheffield 1955 onwards, and Chinese. My hair was cut by an Italian. Immigration is not new.
Can I write a sitcom all about death? Page 2
74 then. I thought immigration was introduced by Ted Heath.
WTF! Jerf is older than Oldrocker!
Didn't you know that all Chinese restaurant cinema adverts were filmed in 1949?
Strikes me as an ambitious but perfectly doable idea.

Not challenging you just curious as if 75 then yes some differing perspective to offer on this sitcom premise.
>curry houses didn't become popular in the Uk till the early seventies onward
Ermmm, not right I'm afraid. I was at uni 1959-1963 and one of our favourite activities was going for a curry in Drummond Street. Unforgettable the day I ordered a Bangalore Phal by mistake.
DIdnt say there weren't any just not that many to be the staple place to go after a night tanking up
Quote: Steve Whyley @ 30th May 2014, 2:04 PM BSTI like the idea of writing about death (strange I know!) and having the challenge of seeing if I can make that subject funny.
I think the trick is to appear to be writing about death, but really be writing about life. One Foot in the Grave is ostensibly about a man who wants a quiet life before he slips off the mortal coil - but really, it is about life. And love. And stuff like that.
Blackadder Goes Forth is about death. Except it isn't. Death is part of life - so write about life.
That doesn't really make any sense. I know what I mean, if that is any comfort.
Nothing wrong with a sitcom where the protagonist's dying. If they commission a second series he'll have had a remission.
Death like panel show contestants is always with us.

And the premise will be?
Some wonder drug or other. Statins, Mediterranean diet...
No I meant what's the sitcom premise. It's offered up as a sitcom idea not a comedy drama.
It was a joke, Mark.
I have no sense of humour.
You should be a comedy commissioner.
