Increasingly so. Not all the time, of course. But I try to do things for my own reasons and not because they are expected of me by others.

I hear what you are saying about being a bit more single minded. I don't really have a problem with e-mailing a producer or being rejected but I would like to know that the person I sent it too had read it or at least some of it. If I sent it to three people and didn't hear back I could then think "Oh, maybe they just deleted it without reading" or "maybe it wasn't the correct e-mail address" etc. I would prefer a "didn't get past page five because it was dogshit" .... and I'd be like all " Yeah, well what do you know, the next thing I send you will be ACTUAL dog shit you dirty M@@!!R FUCKER !...(I won't do that really.. but I might... no I won't... but I might.
Sooty. I appreciate this is my first effort and it has been a big learning curve. I think you're right, I should write something new . I just wanted this to be as good as I could get it before doing that. But I realise it is never going to be perfect and no one would ever say. "This is perfect let's commission this and not change a single word" so at some point I just need to stop and put it out there for rejection.

Ahh, the schizophrenia. It isn't fun. Truth is, solicited or otherwise you will never know if someone has read your work or not. Not properly. Even if you get a response, there is still no guarantee they have actually read the damn thing.
Such is the way.
