Some Things You Never Forget

INT - PUB - NIGHT

ERIC and TREVOR having a pint in their local as ERIC brings over their drinks.

TREVOR
Cheers mate and don't think I didn’t notice you flirting with LISA behind the bar there!

ERIC
(nervously)
Well she's the one making all the running and she even wants me to go back to hers tonight as well.

Lisa waves and blows a kiss to Eric.

TREVOR
So what the bloody hell are you looking so nervous for then mate, go ahead and get in there my son?

ERIC
Yeah but it's just that I've been out of the running for a while and well, you know how it is.

TREVOR
Listen, it's just like riding a bike as they say. Remember when you couldn't do that and then how good it felt when you could?

ERIC
Yeah.

TREVOR
Well just think back to that time then and how your learnt, get back in the saddle and it'll all come back to ya and you'll be laughing mate!

LATER THAT NIGHT

INT. - BEDROOM - NIGHT

FX - Noises of couple having sex

Next shot shows Eric and Lisa on bed in doggy position

ERIC
(over shoulder)
It's alright dad, you can let go now, I think I'll be OK from here.

Final shot changes to a wider angle, showing dad with his hands on Eric's hips to keep him steady.

It was ok. I was kind of hoping he was going to say "It IS just like riding a bike" to her whilst er...'on the job'. I think it'd be better as a Scrubs-style JD imagination sequence.

Hey imamazed, I thought that was one of your best ones - made me chuckle alright. I'd leave it as it is, but if I might make one teeny suggestion - have the guy wearing some stabilizers ;o)

Yeah, I liked it a lot Ima.

I think the girl could have stabilisers strapped to her hips. But then, I've always liked that look.

this could easily link to an always use protection joke-if thats not too crude...knee pads and everything

LISA:
(LOOKING OVER SHOULDER) When I insisted you used protection, I didn't mean kneepads and a cycle helmet.

============

It's funny, like it.

Thanks for the kind words people and as usual there are plenty of good suggestions on how to tweak and improve things……although at the risk of seeming arrogant, I like it they way I put it up, but we all have out own views eh? :)

I like they way that once someone has the basic sketch put up then others can do their versions and I personally find it easier to have a given theme to try to come up with something new, as opposed to having a blank canvas and having to come up with my own theme.

Having said that, I've only ever written one sketch when given the themes and that was when I found this piece of advice:

How to Write the Best Comedy Sketches
by Brian Luff

Where Do Ideas Come From?
If you're stuck, the best place to go looking for ideas for sketches is in big reference books such as Halliwell's Film Guide. A book like this lists thousands and thousands of movie titles and plot lines. Stick a pin in, read a description of the film, and see if it sparks any funny ideas.

For example, your sketch could be a spoof of:

A western
A space movie
An historical romance
A war film
A Hollywood musical
A documentary about snail farming in Gdansk

The sketch I have on here titled You Can Hang Out with All the Boys came from the Western theme.

To the site admin, I've given the book title and credited the author above due to not wanted to steal his thunder, but if you don't allow that kind of things, then please let me know and I'll edit and remove it.

Thank you.
