I'm glad this site has gone. Because any site that features pictures of women only exists solely and purely for the purpose of allowing, unsettling men to masturbate, feverishly and angrily in front of their computer whilst swearing loudly.
Unfortunately I suspect many of these will now do this on the tube.
I read the news today oh boy! Page 1,517
Quote: Renegade Carpark @ 11th April 2014, 5:07 PM BSTAgain, I ask, if we were to flip this around and it was 'Men Drinking Beer in Public' or 'Men with unusual moustaches' - would there be the same calls of sexism? Would male columnists write about it? Would there be a public protest?
Well that's because the way men are viewed, objectified and sexualised has been different. The amount of it, at least. So it's not a simple like for like, there's a ton of history and baggage.

'Do you mind, I'm trying to eat.'

From early statues of David to David Beckham underwear adverts, even Doctor Who became overly sexualised. It's not really that different in terms of what is being shown.
If there is a difference, it's because we men are not shy about expressing our celebration of the human form. Chicks all like to pretend they're Victorian virgins who don't know what sex is, but they are filth, just like us.
Filth? Pah. Is it filth to prefer men topless and covered in dirt and zombie blood?
Oh.

Oh.
The only problem with this 'victory' is that we're dealing with the Internet. They may have closed this one group, but there's nothing to stop another group springing up, such as 'Women picking their noses on the Bus' and boom, we're straight back in.
Quote: Renegade Carpark @ 11th April 2014, 5:19 PM BST'Do you mind, I'm trying to eat.'
I'll stop masturbating when you stop eating
Its my dirty protest

It worked on the smokers. Wail away my good man and drive these feminine grazers from our public conveyances. Huzzah!
In truth renegade I wasn't doing it to stop you smokung
Quote: Renegade Carpark @ 11th April 2014, 5:07 PM BSTThe real reason this group has garnered so many headlines is because these women are portrayed in an unflattering way.
Yes. Because it is bullying.
Quote: Renegade Carpark @ 11th April 2014, 5:07 PM BSTDespite arguments to the contrary about objectification,
What arguments? The ones raised entirely by you?
Quote: Renegade Carpark @ 11th April 2014, 5:07 PM BSTit's their own insecurities and vanity that caused these women to take
such a vocal stance.
Yes, because seeing nasty bullshit happen, saying you don't like it then having the courage of your convictions to do something about it is so insecure.
Whereas wasting your time taking photographs of strangers and uploading them on the net so that other strangers can write nasty things about them is the very definition of a happy and secure person.
Quote: Renegade Carpark @ 11th April 2014, 5:07 PM BSTI would imagine in a lot of instances, those who are complaining have also done their fair share of people watching and judging on the Internet from celebrity paparazzi shots to the previously mentioned 'People of Wal-Mart'. They know how horrible they can be to others, so they don't want the same in return.
Paparazzi shots are all staged. Do you really think the paps hang out in parks in Essex just waiting for Chantelle Houghton to be exercising with her personal trainer?
I wouldn't look at something like "People of Wal-Mart". You would have to be a massive dick to do that.
RCP, you often bring up arguments that essentially boil down to "your complaint about X piece of bullshit is invalid because Y piece of bullshit (usually something that involves men) exists elsewhere and gets no attention."
That is obviously illogical, as I explained to my client who was very upset to be charged with a single count of burglary when "Jimmy has done at least 62 in this area in the last three months and hasn't been nicked for a single one".
Let is call out all bullshit, wherever we may find it. Let's not tolerate any of it.
Perhaps one day there will be a site where thousands of women post photos of men drinking beer and make rude comments about them.
Take photos of them drinking beer that suggests they are performing a sexual act, or take photos at such an angle that you can see down their tops.
And if that day comes, we shall call out that bullshit.
But at the moment, there is enough non-hypothetical bullshit in this world to take up our time.
Quote: Paul Wimsett @ 11th April 2014, 4:10 PM BSTWe need a lawyer who's also a feminist...?
Everyone needs one of them.
Quote: Jennie @ 11th April 2014, 6:24 PM BSTYes. Because it is bullying.
Bullying is great, look how feminists and the press bullied that Women Eating on Tubes group right off of Facebook.
Quote: Jennie @ 11th April 2014, 6:24 PM BSTWhat arguments? The ones raised entirely by you?
I'd love to take the credit for everything, but I didn't invent the argument about the objectification of women.

Good, don't waste your efforts on global poverty or climate change, stick to the real matters, defending the rights of women to stuff their faces on public transport in complete anonymity. Woo, go sister.

I didn't say that you personally frequented these sites, but people do, especially women. From Awkward Family Photos, to hideous wedding dresses, to multiple pictures of actresses without make up, the Internet is awash with these types of upload and ridicule websites. Singling one out and enjoying the others is kind of hypocritical.

I do bring up these reverse sexism bits of hypocritical bullshit to show the double standards that exist both in the press and in society. Equal rights are just that - equal.

You're assuming none of them do.

As long as they don't protest about force fed battery hens and the transportation of livestock, because my irony meter might explode.

Yeah, well when I was five I had my Fisher Price Garage confiscated for smacking my baby sister around the head. The aforementioned burglar got 42 months imprisonment.
Neither of us were being bullied. Behave badly - expect consequences.

Excellent. It might be helpful if you handed out a list of matters that must be dealt with in order of priority.
How completely do we have to have dealt with global poverty before we are allowed to discuss the gender pay gap?
Does everyone on the planet have to be driving a 4 by 4 and attending baby yoga before we can talk about the legal aid cuts and access to justice? Just so I know.

See above "call out all bullshit wherever it is found" argument. Rinse and Repeat.

Absolutely, and if and when you do find an example of white middle class men being discriminated against, I promise to condemn it wholeheartedly. Doubtless the tube protestors would do too.
Quote: Nogget @ 11th April 2014, 8:15 AM BSTHowever, height was almost always an issue; very few women would tolerate a man shorter than them. It seemed that a man's personality wasn't very interesting to a woman, compared to his body.
I think your last sentence is a bit harsh, but I appreciate the sentiment.
The logic goes as follows. Women want to feel petite and skinny, because that is what our society dictates being feminine is. (See my above rants).
Sadly, not all women fit that stereotype, because some women like cake.
However, size is all relative. So what we try and do is find a man who makes us feel petite and skinny. A man on whose shoulder you can rest your head and who won't put his back out when you jump into his arms.
That's the theory anyway. I once tried to date a man who was the same height as me and I desperately wanted to be OK with it. But I wasn't. However he is now happily married to a 5'0' girl and I am reduced to a life of solitude consisting mainly of working late into the night and ranting on the internet. So all's well that ends well.
