I read the news today oh boy! Page 1,503

I'm not pretending it is a tragic loss - it IS a tragic loss.

It is tragic for someone to lose their life so early. It is a waste of potential. She grew up for the most part without her mother, and now there are two young children who will suffer a similar fate. Her father has to suffer the pain of losing a child. That is tragic.

Describing a loss as tragic is not the same as mourning or shedding crocodile tears.

I will not cry for her, as Nogget said, I did not know her to like or dislike. I will not miss her, she had no influence in my life.

I did not particularly like everything she did. But that does not make her death anything less than tragic.

I don't imagine anyone who didn't actually know her is really 'mourning', but they can see that it's a sad thing when someone dies so young, especially if they have young kids. It's probably them they're thinking about really. Empathy, and that.

Hey, I gave them a mention and said I felt sorry for the kiddy winks. I'm not glad this woman is dead, then again, I wasn't glad she was alive.

Lots of young mothers die every day, many of them could only dream of having everything handed to them on a plate and certainly wouldn't have wasted the gifts she'd been given. She only gets the tributes and news time because of her famous parents.

As much as I didn't like Jade Goody, at least she earned her fame on her own and similarly, there was another young mother who died who I had very little sympathy for.

The cool people don't have empathy. Cos they're so cool and that.

kiddy winks

That phrase is not used enough.

Wealth and opportunity isn't a shield against all ills, people will do messed up stuff whatever. I imagine her own mother dying when she was a child didn't help things psychologically.

Is Dewani guilty? I genuinely cannot make my mind up.

Though isn't that the opposite argument for Wills and Harry?

Not having known her, I don't have any particularly strong feelings about her passing, but I do think some of the comments here are on the insensitive side.

I do feel sorry for her dad because I can't imagine what it's like to lose a daughter. Truly truly tragic. However he commented she was the wildest of the lot of us. Is this something that's good? I suspect (but don't actually know) this is probably what got her killed. Such idiotic comments make even myself who has a young daughter lose patience. And she was a talentless over-indulged piece of froth. That doesn't change although she's dead.

What's her being white got to do with anything??

Let's hope not, if she died because of drink / drugs and left two children without a mother, then my estimation of her would sink even further.

How d'you mean? That they haven't been apparently messed up as obviously by their loss? That's the thing, people react differently because they're not all the same.

Why are you giving recently dead people your estimation RCP?

Because we have developed a shorthand on 'tragedy' and there is a hierarchy involved -

White girl child, like Madeline McCann is top of the list and elderly brown foreigns are bottom of the list.

If a black teenage working class girl gets murdered, then it barely makes the news but if some rich, posh, white teenage girl kills herself because of cyber bulling / anorexia / a suicide pact, it's a national tragedy.

I don't make the rules, but it's why some people feel sorry for the Geldofs but don't give two shits about the hundreds of dead 'Chinkys' on Flight MH370.

Because this is a news thread and they were in the news.

Watch out, he's gone full retard.
