There is a Facebook page where people can upload secretly taken pictures of women eating food on the Tube. Yep, ladies eating crisps in public has 14,000 group members.

Taking pictures of people on the Tube isn't illegal, so the question is - should taking pictures of people without their permission in public places be against the law?

Maybe not taking pictures, just posting them online/publishing them without their permission.

It should be legal to take photos

As long as its legal to grab the phone off the person and smash it in their stupid nosey f**kin faces

No - too difficult to police. For example, I estimate I am in at least 1 million Japanese tourist photos, because I have to walk across Trafalgar Square to get to work and I refuse to walk around the picture taker or take-ee. I plow straight through.

I heard about this stupid "photos of women eating on the tube" thing. It annoys me. A lot.

A big line was crossed when they put cameras on phone.

I guess banning would be a nightmare and unenforceable. It's more about learning good manners.

It's a bit freaky when you sit on a tube and all those people are pointing cameras at you.

That said, stop eating on the tube you greedy scratter it's gross.

WHY is it gross? OK, eating a big smelly thing is a bit off, but a packet of crisps is not gross.

It is also completely legal.

AND NONE OF ANYONE ELSE'S FUCKING BUSINESS.

Also, we have to limit it to women, because whilst men are allowed to stuff their faces and get big and fat, ladies must remain waif-like and exist on a diet of wheatgerm and kale for all eternity.

Angry

It's 100% impossible to inforce any sort of ban

So it's a mute point

Might be a bit difficult if you're somewhere like a concert or a tourist attraction and there's literally thousands of people in the background. And what form should the permission be? Verbal, written, an official form?

Of course, they could try to ban people from eating on the Tube, like they have with alcohol consumption, but I don't think it would be a very popular or enforceable policy. The difference between private and public spaces is kind of blurred for some people.

Though I'm still baffled why pervs, weirdos, etc. want to see pictures of women eating food on public transport.

If you look at the photos, it is quite clearly so they can take the piss. There is one up there at the moment of a girl eating a banana.

You know, a banana.
It looks a bit like a cock.
So it is a bit like she's giving a blow job.
On the tube.
huhuhuhuh.

I know, it's pretty much impossible to figure out how it could work.

It's just horrific and wrong that it seems entirely legal at the moment for a stranger to take a pic of a woman (or anyone) on the tube, upload it, slag her off publically along with dozens of other sad, pathetic freaks, and she can't even make the site take it down.

Moot!

I love that word. Very cow-y.

If it was me, I would report it to the police and get them to issue a harassment warning. Whilst it isn't illegal, putting a photo of someone on the internet purely so others can slag them off would constitute harassment.

If they did it again, I would get them arrested. And I would press charges.

I didn't see the banana one on the link, they were all eating crisps and sandwiches and stuff. Where is the saucy banana picture? (um, so I can look at it and be disgusted, obviously)

What a strange comment, no I mean eating on public transport in general for all genders or none.

You're not going to be there for more than 40 minutes.

Excellent.
*makes note in pad under Jennie's Tips For Life*

nb I've a couple of times had someone ask me if I'm taking photos whilst looking stuff up on my phone.
And thought because there's a camera in it, it looks like I'm taking your photo.
It's why I like my Nexus, no back camera, no doubt.
