It's funny how we so rarely feel the need to comment on the physical appearance of male criminals. I always thought Levi Bellfield was a particularly unattractive specimen, myself.

My comment wasn't really about 'attractiveness/ugliness'. It was more the fact that she looks, to be absolutely frank, inbred. I would have said exactly the same if it had been a male with similarly strange facial features. Bellfield is merely a fat, ugly person, but that picture of Bush is something quite different to that IMHO. She almost looks sub-human.

When I saw this thread say that "Fred Phelps was close to death", my first reaction was the swimmer.

As for that Westboro lot...:

Last year the church vowed to protest at a One Direction gig on the grounds that they were "crotch-grabbing little perverts"

I never thought I'd co-sign a statement from that old twat, but he hit the nail square on the head with that one...

Edit:

Maybe they aren't so bad after all.

Beat me to it...

:D

I really wish hell existed.

I think his hell will be how kindly all those dead people he hated treat him.

Mr Rogers will probably even let him appear on his show.

Much as I hate to interrupt...

Fred Phelps is about to die:

Not so sure, Richard Ramirez has so much fuss made about his good looks and Fred West for his rustic, simpleton looks.

And that girl has a ridiculously funny face, not pretty, not ugly, but cartoonishly funny.

So maybe it was part of a motivation.

What she and her buddy did to that autistic boy was truly cruel and her weird mean face seems to match the crime.
If she was beautiful someone would have commented on that fact too, same if it had been a weird looking or strikingly handsome man, it's human nature.

why did nobody tell me about this.

I hate you all.

L'Wren Scott, Mick Jagger's girlfriend, found dead in 'apparent suicide.'

She was "found hanging from a doorknob." How does that work?

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2014/03/17/lwren-scott-dead-apparent-suicide-mick-jagger/

Maybe it went from the doorknob up over the top and she was on the other side.

I've never heard of her, but apparently she was a very successful and well known fashion designer. Must be really f**ked off in the afterlife to see herself constantly referred to only as Mick Jagger's girlfriend.

She may well have tied a short ligature and lent forward to choke herself to death.

Surprisingly common as there's not that many places to hang yourself from if you're tall.

That or it was the illuminati.

Take care, if you know what I mean . . .

My Facebook response to the news -

Fred Phelps, the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church is nearly dead. The Westboros gained international fame through publicly demonstrating at funerals with messages of hate and saying that the deceased deserved to die. For some reason, most people didn't like this kind of behaviour, they thought it was disrespectful and disgusting. I say for some reason, because in the next few days, the same people who decried this activity will be indulging in it themselves, justifying their mocking of the dead because the Westboros did it first.

Despite several attempts to have them silenced, including numerous court cases and petitions, the pesky blighters kept on going using that tired 'freedom of speech' excuse, if only we could ignore basic human rights when we hear things we're not fond of, then life would be so much easier. In all honesty, the Westboros were a minutely small fringe organisation who received far too much publicity for their minority views and despite all the controversy, their impact on my life - and in fact most peoples lives - was 0%.

But it looks like the death of some nutty old man will cause pleasure to untold millions, so who am I to stand in the way of the upcoming hate fest and to point out to his critics that they will be complicit in the in the same type of hypocrisy and bigotry they normally condemn? An old man who said unpopular things is going to die, come on, let's celebrate!

People saying they're glad he's dying is fairly gross. But there's a big difference between that, and writing that down on a big sign, taking the sign to a church, and waving it at the bloke's grieving family, gleefully shouting about how glad you are into their faces.

I highly doubt anyone will be doing that. But if they do, it will then be completely fair to accuse them of hypocrisy. :)

Not really, male criminals have always been portrayed as physically unattractive - from literature to film to television - for hundreds of years.

In fact, when you say the word criminal, your first thoughts are of a large man, usually with a broken nose, shaven head and cauliflower ears. (black mask, stripy jumper and bag marked 'Swag' are optional).

It's such a commonplace stereotype, that it's not even worth mentioning. Female criminals are much more of a rarity due to women's natural desire to submit and conform, so when they do pop up, it's novelty value provokes commentary.

Do I feel that the pan faced Cylon who tortured a mentally disabled boy is being somehow unfairly treated because she is female? Not really, no.

There is a big difference, there were maybe a dozen placard wavers mocking the dead at the funerals, there will be millions sending messages of hate across a globe spanning electronic network.

Worse still, atheists will use the Westboro Church, as they have so many times in the past, to insult and denigrate decent Christians who have distanced themselves from the nutters. You know, because it's only religion that spreads messages of hate. Whistling nnocently

Hate messages ahoy!
