Careers you wish you'd had.

'bout time for a new thread.

What career would you like to have had instead of what you ended up doing?

Me? Funeral director !

You still can! Live the dream!

You just want to bury yourself in your work

I always thought I'd make a good hangman

I always wonder why people covet careers, when logically the best situation to be in is to not need one.

Sports journalist.

From the age of 14 - 16, I spend every Saturday afternoon answering phones for the Radio Nottingham Sports Quiz Phone In during the Forest commentary.

I would still love to give journalism a go - but I would prefer to do features over news. I would also probably move away from sport. Whilst I still love it, there are more interesting things in the world.

Jim fixed it for me to be an auctioneer. I had a really nice time but it wasn't the career for me. I just wanted to be on TV.

I guess because there are so many interesting things to do in the world, it is impossible to pick just one!

Pilot. That is another job I would love to do. Might help my obsession with plane crashes.

Yeuch the purposeless life or everything you do being a mere hobby.

Have you ever seen an unhappy ant.

You don't need a career to have a purpose.

No but it makes it a lot easier.

I wanted to be a journalist too. Just print not broadcast. I wanted to be a mixture of Robert Redford in All The President's Men and Meg Ryan in Sleepless in Seattle. And all the people in Press Gang.

Or a film critic. Getting to just watch films and write about them seemed like the ideal job when I was about 20. (Then I realised I don't really like analysing peoples' hard work and picking holes in it.)

Internet troll.

I wanted to be an architect, thanks to Steve Martin. In most of his films, he is a successful American man, with huge fancy house, good job and nothing but a mid-life crises to worry about. In his movie 'HouseSitter' with Goldie Hawn, he is an architect. The 10 year old me thought that was awesome. Unfortunately the shithead 15 year old me instantly dismissed the idea when he saw the qualifications needed for such a dream. :(

You could be a film critic for a up beat publication like the people's friend

And just say everything's ace

Aww, that'd be nice. Don't they just watch Bergerac on repeat though?
