Comfort Food

What's yours?

Mine:-

Heinz Tomato Soup

Baked Beans (preferably Heinz) on white toast

2 Boiled Eggs (5 Mins - room temperature. 6 if from the fridge) with buttered white toast soldiers

Jelly and Custard

Tinned fruit cocktail with evaporated milk

Bananas and custard

McVities plain chocolate digestives dunked in a cuppa tea

I think a lot of comfort food stems from childhood memories, don't you think?

When I was a kid, I used to love making pasta and then mixing it up with a tomato ketchup and butter sauce. Very unhealthy, but damn it was simple and comforting. It also made me feel like a chef compared to my peers who just waited for their mums to cook.

I very much approve.

My slightly embarrassing one is those mini tins of beans and sausages. As you say, it's because I ate them when I was a kid.

C&B? Yes, and fine they are too, but our local Tesco has stopped stocking them for some reason - I think the sauce was thicker than Heinz, which my wife preferred.

Not C&B, these . . .

"simple and comforting" - two key words! :)

And now you're a chef de cuisine? Rolling eyes

Mashed potato. It's really soft and comfortable.

It's better fried !

:)

Echo mash and beans.

Also banana sandwiches, colcannon, rice pudding, can be tinned or homemade, and custard, oh and being as it's Shrove Tuesday, homemade pancakes with caster and lemon juice.

Ooh! Colcannon is nice.

Fry it and it's a form of bubble and squeak.

It's fried anyway as a rule.
