Quote: Gordon Bennett @ 20th February 2014, 10:38 PM GMTSome clever Austrian stole the RB formula from Japan I think.
Anyway, Since Red Bull is the sponsor Salzburg dominates the Austrian leaugue. They didn't qualify for the Champions League yet but had some good moments in the EL.
Thailand I think.
And RB Salzburg absolutely reek of football's future.
Even the f**kwits at Cardiff City, MK Dons and Hull Tigers blush when they see that soul-less, commercially-driven charade of a football club came into being.
At least the MLS is a corperate league, full of naff new 'franchises' anyway, so it doesn't matter so much. The RB teams in Brazil and Germany were forced to start from scratch, at the bottom.
However, what happened to SV Austria Salzburg was a rape of football's history, traditions, soul and identity. Get used to it, because it's gonna happen more and more, as f**ktards who constantly use words like "markets" and "brands" get their claws deeper and deeper into the game.
It is becoming a bit farcical all this billionaire takeover hobby nonsense. You have 'The Cardiff Bluebirds' playing in red, The Hull City Tigers sounding like a new zoo opening.
Robbie Savage the new pundit to listen to? Does anyone else watch his quite funny podcast things on the BBC website? He often looks like he's just got up and is doing a rambling self video at home but his comments are spot on. Knows his football and actually has a passion for it. And isn't just a cliché spouting easy money grabbing gobshite like one or two on MOTD.

Yes, I find Robbie Savage quite refreshing compared to the other BBC pundits. Unfortunately, I don't get to hear much of him these days as I favour TalkSport. Alan Green is also one of my favourites over at the BBC.

I didn't live in the UK for a few years, but used to think DIxon was good back in the day. Actually seemed intelligent, rather than "intelligent for a footballer".
I like Keown as a pundit; and the most criminally underused/under-appreciated co-commentator/pundit by far is Trevor Francis.
I managed to sit through an entire episode of Football Focus last week, which has become dreary beyond belief, but last week's was a good'un. A few years ago I'd watch every minute of every episode (apart from the Scottish bits), and acted like a tyrant in the living room, making the rest of the family sit in absolute silence all the way through (apart from the Scottish bits).

Although it wasn't a magnificent performance by Man Utd yesterday, I thought they were starting to look decent in the second half. And, sweet Jesus, they're up to the heady heights of sixth!
Looks like Sky picked the right game to show live. Four games at Anfield already. Diddly squat at St James'!
Make that five!
Ha! Switzerland and England are in the same qualifying group for 2016.

I thought of you as the balls were being handled.
And when they drew the group teams for Euro 2016 etc.

Anyway, can we agree on two draws, please. I mean, we are the favourites of the group and shouldn't do no harm to each other. Plus: we're almost family, Hodgson once was the manager of the Swiss team; although, we have to see if he's still your manager after Brazil.

They're relieved because they beat Crystal Palace!

I'm not quite sure what the problem is with Hull.
They're called Hull City and their nickname is the Tigers so what's the big fuss?

I live in Malaysia, and it's Hull City Tigers 100% here. They'll drop the City soon enough.
I just think it will set a precedent, where every football club will sound like a Super League, IPL, NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, NCAA, Australian RL, Aviva RU or country cricket team (i.e. location name, plus generic fierce animal) - and that's the ones that don't end up named after various corporations and "winning brands".
When compared near nearly every sport, names like "City" are actually somewhat unique.
'Tigers' is just to "expand the brand" in Asia; a continent that most marketers seem to believe is full of fickle, shallow morons.
