Devo, one of the best American bands. A breath of fresh air amidst the Bon Jovis and Scorpions lookalikes. RIP Bob Casale.

I really liked their version of "Working In A Coal Mine":

What about Satifaction and Jocko Homo and Mongoloid? (Oh maybe that's a bit un-PC?)

...or Whip It or Girl U Want? So much to choose from.

(Sorry - only got the Stiff ones!)
Has anybody heard Devo's last album? Is it good?

Does . . .
No, no! Get thee behind me Satan.
Just listened to my first ever Devo track . . . I lasted 35 seconds.

That doesn't surprise me all that much knowing your taste in music. Devo weren't about pure rock n roll but about satire on society and the music business. Musically a mix between Talking Heads, Kraftwerk and...Punk rock(?). No chance to get into if you don't like synthesizers, the occasional atonality (although normally their music had plenty of hooks) or absurdist lyrics.
I think we now need a band like Devo more than ever.
Out of curiosity: Which track were you listening to?

Have you got any Devo albums, Chappers?
I only have these two compilations:
The first one is a now very rare two disc Rhino Records anthology with a 3-D cover.

Can't remember I'm afraid Gordon. Just went on You Tube and clicked one.

Only bought the singles I'm afraid plus I think one Virgin but I don't know where they are now.
Watching a documentary about the recording of Wish You Were Here. One of my very favourite albums.
Very good documentary - the Syd bit is fairly extraordinary.
I used to be rather obsessed with Syd Barrett for a couple of years in my late teens. Happy times. Think I'll go and listen to Arnold Layne now.
I take no responsibility for any hearing damage caused by listening to any part of this !
Weird how you can listen to something at different points and you get different feelings.
I bought "A New World Record" by ELO on vinyl when it came out and loved it.
A year or so ago I got it on CD, played it and was really disappointed. Just played it again and had almost the same reaction as when I first got it.
Just played "On the Third Day" too.
