Another article on 'Rape Culture' - if Twerking was the phrase of 2013, then Rape Culture is surely the number one cool thing to say this year. Even though feminists love chucking out the expression, what does it really mean?

Do we live in a culture that endorses rape? Nope. Do we live in a society that celebrates and promotes rape? Again, I don't believe we do. Do we normalise the act of rape? I say no - but the feminists say yes. The evidence: people are using expressions like 'it was a bit rapey'.

Based on that logic, 'Bugger me, I'll be buggered if I work for those buggers' must imply that we live in a 'Buggery Culture'. So if anyone knows the real answer and whether or not we live in a 'Rape Culture', would you be kind enough to let me know?

It's one of those astonishingly bad written, straw man articles that drive me round the bend.

That requires taking multiple assumptions with out research, buried in a big pile of humourless, pseudo intellectual waffle.

Rape culture is a slightly over blown term for what in the good old days used to be called hyper sexualisation. Women do not need blokes to get them blind drunk, and half the adverts using semi naked females are aimed at women.

It's there's too much sex in our culture, it needs a good dose of bromide. But blaming it on some sinister cabal of blokes who smell and are horrid is daft.

Diet cokes awful doll adverts, with big eyed lady puppets being helpless and ditzy are aimed and succeed with ladies.

KFC had that advert with chubby ladies in Evans talking with their gobs full and it was swiftly replaced by that big eyed, skinny girl weeping because fellas don't hold doors open for her.

Rape culture seems a puerile way of saying, everything's shit and its men's fault.

I couldn't agree more. The use of the 'R' word is the ultimate stick to beat people with, just like the previous 'R' word would silence any opponents to immigration.

On the Review Show last night, they talked about a new play called 'Blurred Lines' which appears to be the latest cash in on trendy 'Rape Culture' outrage.

Wow, that is an eye opening article. It's a shame that false statistics and media lies are actually stopping women from coming forward to the police.

You see from dubious films, to 50 Shades of Grey to Blurred Lines our culture is full of weird unsavoury attitudes to sex.
Aimed at and appreciated by both genders, hell even Mills and Boons is extremely dodgy.
But the rape culture thing is the same kind of desperate, none existent conspiracy as 9/11 deniers.
You can't suggest taking off campus Blurred Lines, without taking 50 Shades out of the book shop.
Personally I think religion has long had it's day as the arbiter of sexual/relationship values. But we kinda need to find a replacement and yelling rape at everything doesn't help.

Didn't see Cameron, Clegg or Miliband filling up any sandbags. I would imagine in flood soaked Somerset, they're happier to see a Royal doing something then a politician standing around in front of news cameras.
