If you're going by train, get a taxi from the station to your meeting, it's cheaper than you'd think and you'll arrive in a much better state of mind. And if you're going by car, go by train.
Bloody waiting! Page 4

I was going to get a train to London then tube it.
Visit the building where his office is (or wherever you're meeting) an hour before to make sure you know where it is!
But maybe it's just me who always gets lost...
Don't hang around outside. They'll think your weird or a big issue seller.
No, no. Don't stay there! Check it out and then go and be cool in a bar, or, poo yourself with nerves but pretend to look round the local Primark.
That's what I'd do...
Was hoping for an email last wednesday but when it arrived, instead of saying 'this is the best thing I've ever read, have a million pounds', it said 'hasn't had chance to read it yet'. I should be greatful that it wasn't 'this is the biggest pile of...', but I'm not. And now my send and receive button doesn't seem to be working. It's nearly a week now and nothing happens whenever I press it. Except junk, of course. If I get another bloody email of a sickly puppy I'll go out into the street and slaughter the next one I see. Puppy's do not cheer me up, I'm not supposed to be cheery. I am a comedy writer. A comedy writer in waiting.
I just got a response from Celador to a sitcom I sent them about 4 months ago.
"At the moment we are nort accepting any new scripts....Therefore I am returning your script unread."
Why couldn't they have done that straight away?

It was probably sat on a big pile . . .
Of Jasper Carrott's money, obviously.
The worst part of all is when you get the letter or email.
Opening it - gets all sorts of fluids pumping, leaking out of any hole they can find.
Many congratulations by the way Mr. Seefacts, my fingers are firmly crossed for you.
Yayyyyyy! Congrats Seefacts & good luck!
Sorry I'm late to this. Congrats Seefacts -- hope it all goes well!
Dan

there's nothing quite like the buzz when good news cometh and nothing quite like the crushing blow of rejection. I'd like to think the emotions lessen in intensity with experience but in my experience they don't.

My eyes go straight to the bottom of the letter/email as that's where the important bit lies. Either 'We can't take it further' or 'I'd be interested in meeting you'. Then I read the rest either unbelievably ecstatic, or really downbeat.
Thanks for kind words too people, much appreciated. I will post a full account of my day if all goes to plan.

ironically i just got one of those 'important' e-mails. A 'not quite' rejection from one of the biggies but an open invitation to send more material. I'm always quite happy with those especially when it's the first contact. And one of the ideas they liked has given me the confidence just to film/ produce myself.
Good luck with that Seefacts. I got my first 'comedy broadcast' contract the other day and its worth the wait. Keep going if its not this time.
