It's remarkably easy for someone with a competent lawyer to get off of most charges.
The problem in the US and sometimes the UK, is without a competent lawyer the accused just plea bargain the lowest sentence, guilty or innocent.

Yes, I bought it on your recommendation, I was intending to watch it again as it was quite a dreamlike film and a I felt like I hadn't understood it completly on first watch.
