Final 2525 reject

V/O - Alcohol and ego, not the worst things celebrities have named their children, but the biggest threat to comedy double acts in the twenty first century. Something we sidestepped by introducing robot double acts, but they was one threat that remained

F/X applause. Closing of dressing room

ROBOT 1 - The stage hand said Do-Gooder Bot left a letter

F/X paper rustling as ROBOT 2 grabs letter

ROBOT 1 - Why is he writing you letters?

ROBOT 2 - I'm teaching him calligraphy

ROBOT 1 - What's going on? Are you..

ROBOT 2 - Don't say it

ROBOT 1 - You are aren't you? You're doing a Sports Relief challenge!

ROBOT 2 - We're in talks. I didn't want you to find out like this

ROBOT 1- But you did want me to find out

ROBOT 2 - Of course not. I went to great lengths to keep it a secret.

ROBOT 1 - Since they solved the worlds hunger now all they do is split up comedy acts. They're evil

ROBOT 2 - Maybe but I'll be world famous after I do five lengths of the Thames - thank God there's no water in any more

ROBOT 1- So that's it is it? After all these years its "kiss the piece of metal where my bum would be. Thank you and goodbye"

ROBOT 2 - I don't remember saying thank you

ROBOT 1 - I remember when it is all about the comedy. It was although you were built to be on the stage, well you were. You were built to be on the stage, now you turn your back on everything that made you and I bet it didn't take much convincing did it? Show me that letter let me see what it took

F/X paper rustling as ROBOT 1 grabs the letter. ROBOT 1 begins to laugh

ROBOT 2 - What?

ROBOT 1 - This letter isn't for you. It's for me Forget comedy. I'm going to be famous!

END

I'm not sure I really get this one. Do Sports Relief split up double acts? A double act splitting up is always ripe for comedy, but I'm not sure you've captured it here.

Also, I think having two robots in a sketch could get a bit confusing without a different voice amongst the mix.

Thanks ben. I think the original idea was one half of the act becoming more famous because of sports relief, but I don't think I captured it

Ah I see! Perhaps setting it after the Sports Relief event and showing the bitterness from the less famous half would have worked better.

Not your best sketch, but I loved the opening line!

Thanks Playful and Ben. I think I had in mind "why talk about the event when you could show it" but with this idea I think the fall out if where the story would be rather than the start
