Bet you won't still be in that position when you're 88!
I read the news today oh boy! Page 1,417

I'd settle for making 88 !
Don't say it! I'm realising I probably have less years left than half my life.
A woman who says she was harassed by former Liberal Democrat chief executive Lord Rennard has refused to rule out taking legal action against him.
Lord Rennard, who denies the harassment claims, was suspended by the party after he refused to apologise
So the big story here is that someone isn't taking any legal action. Wow! Not only that, but they're not saying they won't take any in the future. Double wow! You'd think that to report something that isn't happening, they'd find a more interesting thing that hasn't happened, like maybe "the world hasn't been invaded by tiny Noel Edmunds dolls!" or " Kitchen Units Grimsby thread closed!", especially since the legal action that's not and may never happen relates to an allegation which wasn't actually proven.
The FA are charging Nicolas Anelka over his quenelle gesture which is reportedly an 'inverted Nazi salute'.

Next up, the FA will then charge school children all over America for also using 'inverted Nazi salutes' -
Footballer in yet another footballing c**t shocker.

That's not the shocker, it's that any gesture can be construed as the opposite of what it means in future. Every single hand movement can now be labelled as an 'inverted Nazi salute'.
That picture of you on Facebook with your arms in the air at Alton Towers - inverted Nazi salute. Nice going you anti-Semitic racist scumbag.
I'm not saying Anelka is innocent or didn't know what he was doing, it's just the precedent of doing the opposite of something can also make you guilty. 'The way the assailant curled into a ball and said "don't hit me" was clearly an inverted attempt on my life, so I had to kill him".
It is double plus ungood.
It's just the weird name they've given it. Doesn't mean anything.
If they called a group of people who were killing aryan types 'inverted Nazis' it wouldn't mean they couldn't be arrested for murder.

The context you're using it in would mean they are against Nazis, whereas Anelka is being charged for making a gesture that is pro-Nazi. It is the salute that is inverted, not the Nazism.
True.
But what I'm trying to say is the name they have given the salute is just a name. It has no real meaning.
I think saying he shouldn't be punished for a racist salute because of what it's called is silly.
Quote: zooo @ 21st January 2014, 2:32 PM GMTI think saying he shouldn't be punished for a racist salute because of what it's called is silly.
But that's just it, the salute he made wasn't racist on the face of it, it was the opposite action of a racist salute. It's all down to interpretation and perception.
Eg. I could write 'That Kirsty Allsop isn't a talentless bint who only got to be on telly because of her rich parents and in no way physically resembles the corpse of a clown who died of a potato overdose'.
You would interpret that statement as a criticism of Kirsty Allsop, even though I said she wasn't talentless and didn't look like a clown's corpse.
It's a slippery slope when you make judgements on a such an individually perceptual level - hence my FA charging American school children for making a similar salute.

I'm more worried gripping a prostrate left arm is what one does when having an heart attack
Still looks like wolves are in the quenelle club

That's old people for you, racist to the end.
Apparently Zoopla are pulling their sponsorship of West Brom because of Anelka, not because West Brom are floundering about in the middle of the table and they're not getting a decent return on their investment. No, the property website that advertises estate agents who don't let properties to black people are taking a stance on racism.

Well, no salute is racist on the face of it! Even the traditional Nazi salute. Unless you write 'I hate Jews' on your hand in felt tip bloody pen.
But even then that would just be an innocent collection of letters. Nothing racist about letters on the face of it.
