Life Of Riley (Caroline Quentin, Neil Dudgeon)

I love the Internet. People are so ... interesting!

I wouldn't actually say Life Of Riley. I forgot about Not Going Out.

Everyone will be different but for me On The Buses hasn't aged well.

But!

Steptoe isn't just a classic from the 60s - it's a classic from all time! It's absolutely superb

Absolutely. If you want to expand your viewing you should start with becoming more familiar than "a few clips" with Steptoe And Son. Not merely one of the best sitcoms of the 1960s, but one of the best sitcoms. Full stop.

The complete Steptoe And Son box set is just a few pence over £20 on Amazon right now. All 8 series. Buy it. If you don't like it, you can probably get £30 for the thing on eBay afterward! http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B005O05HTU/comedyguide-21/

(Also, no; On The Buses isn't really an example of a great 60s sitcom as it didn't start until 1969, and more typified the humour of the 1970s. Meanwhile, Steptoe And Son ran into 1970.)

And The Likely Lads. Maybe Marriage Lines too, Meet The Wife and Hugh And I.

1960s - Steptoe And Son, Dad's Army, Till Death Us Do Part
1970s - Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads, The Good Life, Open All Hours
1980s - Only Fools And Horses, 'Allo 'Allo!, Blackadder
1990s - Men Behaving Badly, Drop The Dead Donkey, The Vicar Of Dibley
2000s - Not Going Out, Benidorm, My Family

1960s: Till Death Us Do Part
1970s: Fawlty Towers
1980s: Blackadder
1990s: Spaced, The Thin Blue Line, Jeeves And Wooster
2000s: The Office, Lead Balloon, Extras
2010s: Moone Boy, Episodes

I can't help feeling this is off topic and a plug...

What is the difference between that package and this one Aaron? http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000VA3J5C/comedyguide-21/
Apart from 145 minutes less material?

As far as I am aware, the only difference is the packaging. The latter release is slightly slimmer, I think.

I have the box set from its original issue, and the quoted run time totals 1676 minutes.

Oh right, thanks for that. Always find it a bit odd how they do that.
