Doctor Who... Page 1,056

From some link somewhere:

The usual complaint is that it's too complicated for the casual viewer and Moff replies that there are pre-teens who are fully clued-up!

Moffat says:

"I think people have come to think a plot hole is something which isn't explained on screen. A plot hole is actually something that can't be explained.
Sometimes you expect the audience to put two and two together for themselves. For Sherlock, and indeed Doctor Who, I've always made the assumption that the audience is clever."

Well that clears them all up for me

Although I haven't seen Sherlock past season 1 yet

Did he actually say that !...?

More troubling was the replica scarf offered for sale on the same site. 49.99 pounds would be a bargain if knitted from wool. But it's acrylic! Awful. When did wool fall out of fashion?

Looks mighty fine. Be great if they had the cash, or desire, to animate a completely lost story.

I think that's the third paritally lost Cyberman one they've done, I have the other two. It's a lot better than on VHS, when they just used to have a slideshow of still pictures on screen for missing eps.

That would be cool.

Also be great if they could make some new episodes that aren't crap. Throw the folder to Terrance Dicks and say: "You have a go at commissioning and editing some scripts, old boy, seeing as how you helped the show to survive and thrive back in the 70s. And got everyone reading in the 80s. Kids of today may like some good sci-fi adventure yarns, rather than being overdosed on cosmic soap opera guff."

And Uncle Terrance will say: "Well, you see, I'm not short of ideas, but I'm not sure I'm still the man for the job. However, if you insist."

They have, I've seen them!

The last I tried to watch was a Matt Smith Christmas special, set on Earth. I can't recall precisely why, but within a few minutes of watching I ejected the DVD because some aspect of the show was crap. Will give it another go now and see how long I last. Hope the DVD still works, as have been using as a novelty coaster.

There was a very crap Christmas one, where he's the pretend caretaker of a house.

I perhaps unfairly ejected this on first viewing within a couple of minutes, as I disliked the pointless Star Wars style opening with the sonic screwdriver being used as an access-all-exits pass. I also recall disliking the little kid at the telescope.

This time around I'm trying to stick with it. The Doctor is behaving like a curious combination of Mary Poppins and the Cat in the Hat. Nothing good so far. But I reckon I'd be lapping it up if I was 5 years old.

Christmas specials are often especially crap.

That's amazing.

"There are no plot holes, you're just too stupid to follow my brilliance."
