I don't understand the fuss about Fergie being in the stands. If he was publicly criticising Moyes, then I can see why that would be detrimental. However, as it is, he's a director at Manchester United and entitled to be there.

I don't think it can be easy for Moyes in his shadow.

:D

Wonder how he feels about Gum Gob's eyes burning into the back of his head every match?

I bet Ferguson is loving it. It makes him look even better to have won the league with that bunch.

Just to let you know that this week in 1939 according to my Dad's diary Manchester United lost 5-1 at home to West Brom in the FA Cup in front of a crowd of just 11,000.

If you want to know more about that year my Blog is up and running.

Not sad to see the back of Anderson. No great loss. I remember being quite excited when they signed him as he was being hyped as the next Ronaldinho. After about a season I realised all he was going to do was blast the ball high over the crossbar. 179 games for Utd and barely a good performance amongst the lot.

Hopefully a few more pieces of deadwood will be cleared out and, more importantly, replaced.

No it's not. Spitting is disgusting and in football it's a case of monkey see monkey do.

I can't imagine Matthews, Lofthouse or Wright gobbing every few minutes.

According to my Dad's diary the Wolves result in the FA Cup on this day in 1939 was as follows:-

Wolves 5 Leicester 1 - Attendance 45,208 Gate receipts £3,415 12s 9d.

Yearly average pay in 1939 £211.

Looks like the average admission price was about 1/6 - or 7.5p.

From memory, wasn't Billy Wright on about £8 a week in the 50s?

RIP Bert Williams.

Do you want Mata for Utd, Ben? Do you think he'd improve your season?
