The Café - Series 2 Page 2

Personally I am just waiting for something New, that is actually funny to the point of making you cry with laughter.

Some of these shows on TV are either only put on because the TV station either tries another series, hoping people will find it funny on the second series, or they try to rehash something that finished 10 years ago.

Well, as you can see from other posters that enjoy this show that it is certainly not, nor was it meant to be, hilarious. We wouldn't expect, should there be a next season, for it to change that radically. But the show IS charming, warm, well acted, and entertaining for some of us. And with those qualities alone, without using any gimmicks, it manages to be quite unique some how. But funny to the point of making you cry with laughter, it will never be.

I came here because I just finished the first half of the last episode of Series 2. I'm only commenting because so many people have said this show isn't "laugh out loud" funny. While I agree that the comedy is subtle, especially in Series 1, I did literally laugh out loud several times during the first half of this last episode. All of the confusion about the wedding march; Richard's mom, hating Sarah so much, the line Mary uses - "The Witches of Westwick"!! I had to rewind to hear that again! And the organist playing Vader' march - I actually told my husband about that! I can't WAIT to see the second half of this last episode. I don't expect as much laughter, but I am truly emotionally invested in Weston-Super-Mare, Michelle Terry and Ralf Little. I LOVE THIS SHOW! <3

So idiotic to discontinue the show. This was a great show. Where these executives get their decision making capacity is beyond me.
