The Gap Band - Party Train

Not the best quality, but still fun.

Charlie Wilson was the best thing so far on "Hootenanny" this year (though still got the last hour to watch). Are you into The Gap band, Gordon? Any recommendations?

And me.

Though on listening to it I much prefer the later version which I bought at the time. More punch.

Always been curious about the Brinsleys though, and remember seeing their album in the racks.

I like this Lowe album:

Very laid-back.

Love Nick. So "Cool". In the Brinsleys he did look a bit out of place but always the star.

I only have this compilation, so I'm no expert on their individual albums, unfortunatly.

But I like them...not as exciting as the best works by Kool & The Gang (check out their 70s stuff, before they've become chartstormers) or The Isley Brothers for example, but still a quality funk pop band. I definitely prefer them over Cameo. This is one of their classics: Early In The Morning
I'm more into harder edged funk such as James Brown or Funkadelic/Parliament, as you might have noticed.

Thanks, Gordon. Enjoyed that track.

Charlie Wilson was amazing on that New Year's Eve show. Great voice, and incredibly charismatic - talk about "owning the room".

Might be that the music on its own doesn't have the same impact, or personal appeal.

Sex Pistols - no fun

No idea what the music's like, but that cover isn't up to your recent high standards, Johnny. ;)

She's a bit of a Folk legend.

Much better! :D

I'm beginning to think JohnnyD is making these bands/albums up. Maybe he's a talented painter and photographer who designs these covers for nonexisting bands and takes the mickey out of us. ;)

Really, I don't know most of these artists and I have more than 5000 CDs in my collection, most of them by pop/rock artists before the 80s. So depressing. And cool at the same time...there are many musical surprises still to come for me.

Who's the artist?

Nothing very obscure about Moby Grape, Gordon.

Ooops, I only have a MG compilation. Shows I don't know nothing about their albums.

I recently bought most of the Pretty Things albums. I'd like to do the same with Moby Grape and Quicksilver Messenger Service.

I recognised the Moby Grape cover. Who was the one before?

I'm listening to vitriolic Man Utd fans on TalkSport. I'm not quite ready to join their ranks yet.
