I may be wrong but I get the impression Matt Smith deciding to leave took Moffat by surprise a bit. And that he'd have rather had him for another series or so.

I wonder why all the new doctors leave so soon? :(
I would've thought it would be an amazing job to have, especially for an unknown actor.

It takes up more of your year, and more of your non-filming time, than most roles.

With Smith, he was actually announced as taking over five years ago, so although he wasn't on screen in the role that whole time, it probably feels like he's been in it for quite a stretch.

I suppose.
It is a shame though, it would be nice if just one would stick around for a longer time. Matt was fantastic too, the best doctor for me.

It's too stressful a job. Each Ood takes a least two hundred years off your life...

:D

They started filming the new series today, so we'll prob get some official, or leaked, pics of Capaldi as the Doctor in costume soon.

Yayyyyyyyyy!

Nooooo. Zooo wait and enjoy it. I saw hot cross buns for sale today FFS.
It's health and safety gone mad.

But I neeeeeed to see the next Doctor's outfit. *whimpers*

Then learn to wait young lady! Anticipation is the best seasoning!

Teary

But what if you wait..and then it's shit, like Sherlock? Instant gratification = minimal disappointment.

If you are gratificated maybe but what if he is and you aren't!

Ah, well I liked Sherlock so that'll be fine by me!

Me too, we don't need the same old stories told in the same old ways. What's the point? Like constantly rebooting comic book movies and retelling the origin story. Pointless.

Pretty Woman was Pygmalion which was Pygmalion you can use old stories but bring something new. Shakespeare did this.
