Mavis Riley's budgerigar was originally called Harry and became Harriet. If it is my turn to set a question, it is the same as any of George Roper's unanswered questions from the 1970s. The full list of questions is here:
In 1970 a famous pop group split up who are they?
in 1971 a new law is passed concerning motorcyles what is it?
in 1972 a long tunning quiz show is first broadcast on bbc TV what is it?
in 1973 a new forum of leisure pursuit replaces roller skating what is it?
in 1974 muhammed ali regains the heavyweight title. who did he defeat?
in 1975,a new beginner's computer language is launched what is it called?
in 1976,a new hot hatch takes to the road! over what were the boy racers drooling ?
in 1977,the grand national is won for the third time runnin, name the horse?
in 1978,ITN has its first female news'reader what is her name?
in 1979,unofficial strikes take place over goverment pay restraint as what is this period known?
Sootyj you are ComedyGeek and I claim my £5.
Quote: A Horseradish @ 2nd January 2014, 2:12 PM GMTYou answer my question about what you meant by the c word and I will then answer your question about what I am "on about". I fully expect that I won't get an honest answer. It is a shame that you appear to see members of the public like George Roper as beneath you. There is absolutely nothing I can see in your cv to justify it. York University. So what? Loads of us went there. Why pompously give it some "special" sort of reference. Personally, I think George is far more pleasant and has considerably more intelligence and wit.
Badge didn't go to York Uni. Like me
Quote: A Horseradish @ 2nd January 2014, 3:01 PM GMTWhat a delightful character you don't possess. You have just proven to me with those words that you are a truly nasty individual. Is that the way in which all people in the IT profession speak? Like a glorified barrow boy? It is not your fault that you happen to have been dragged up from somewhere in the most "unloveable" generation of all time but I do pity those younger than you. They had especially better watch their backs.
I think too that there is a little bit too much of the rampant aspiration you and your very ugly middle class ilk exhibit. The sort that is prepared to destroy any others' modest efforts and pleasures for the sheer hell of it. You offend me. You really offend me. Does some of my licence money really have to pay for your crass rot? I guess so. There is one thing that your language and behaviour reveal, though, that gives me the most enormous pleasure. It is to know - really know - the depths of the immaturity and sheer personal under-development in the 30-something so-called professionals you typify. I am so pleased that I am actually above your ridiculous sense of superiority so that I can take your bullying of others on. Because of my own background, I relate better to a level of respect and decent normality. But that is beyond your upbringing.

Quote: A Horseradish @ 2nd January 2014, 3:12 PM GMTThose three words. It is like a spoilt little child isn't it? The whole attitude is less weighty than wringing wet. I hear you are now a father. God help the kid - and older members of society with the likes of you around.

What has this got to do with the original topic of the thread? It looks essentially like an attempt to reinforce the old boys network in which everyone is friendly to everyone and knows everything about everyone as long as they were here at the very beginning. Do you all roll up your trouser leg first thing in the morning? According to the header "We really are a terribly friendly bunch, honest!" So where do you want to start addressing accuracy? We can look at various examples from a very wide range of individuals in the clique.
In the broad scheme of things, there are about a dozen decent exceptions. Some very decent. Elsewhere, there is the "talking across" criticism of anyone who has arrived since one or two key figures. The attitudes to Teddy. The boasts about encouraging others to leave. The turgid "I am on the train" quality of many of the postings and the ones who habitually diss any newcomer's efforts. The more naive they are, the more they revel in it. But if you do want to pick at this in greater depth, hopefully it will be on another thread.
In 1970 Simon and Garfunkel split
In 1971 the minimum age for riding m/cycle raised 16 -> 17

You don't look like anything because you don't even post a picture and there are many who never indicate they are on the forum. You have never spoken to me on this forum before now. Ever. There are many like you who only communicate when there is some possibility for snide comment. And you are still off topic.

That was before the deletion of posts which changed the truth of the original context. I am certainly not going to let that go unanswered. I don't like you. I really don't like you. You are very uncharming. And the only time you are not oblique - and seemingly amused - is when you are smashing up other people's threads.

I think the first question was answered almost immediately.

I think it has been ascertained that only one post was deleted and Oldrocker has explained why.
I haven't smashed up this thread.
