hear, hear.
At what point would you quit your day job? Page 3
I'd enjoy hearing people laugh a whole lot more from the seat of my roller!
I'd need 40K per annum to give up the day job.
Fat chance anybody is going to pay me that to write!
I gave up the day job last April to concentrate on the writing/ producing. spent all my savings on some 'gear' (electronic) and now scrape a living writing / producing virals. I'm completely skint but wouldn't swap it for anything (apart from M Lewis' job).
For most people it would when they can afford to give it up. Even pens and pads cost money when you don't have a stationary cupboard to 'stock check'.
I would give it up just to give full-time writing a go. I've done ok as a part-timer.
Quote: David Chapman @ February 20, 2008, 12:39 AMSo you don't have a job then.
My job is company director - i am employeed by my firm, so i still have a "job" to do. I suppose i could do literally nothing but with zero input from me i would not make much over 40k.
I have research this a lot and figured i need a hit sitcom that is sold to the US and syndicated....that's my plan, then i'll quit work
Quote: jdubya @ February 19, 2008, 11:17 PMIt's taken me five years to get to there.
wish I owned a financial advice company. Hold on... you're not THAT M Lewis are you? from MSE?
What's MSE?
Quote: jdubya @ February 19, 2008, 10:41 PMI gave up my day job last year to concentrate on writing full time. Luckily I make a living doing stand-up at the weekends.
Well done you. You want to ring some pubs that do entertainment & offer to boost their wed night trade.

Eh - are frogs known for their tight bottoms?
I think its widley accepted that your typical frog is tense down there.
they probably tense up when you come to research your widely accepted view?
You shouldn't give up your day job until you get a contract from Coro Street or Emerdale or the likes, anything else pays peanuts unless your Sue Nickolls with a sitcom contract

I am a mere 3 years older than you. Well if you turn 34 before next January.
