I Thought this was a excellent return for it I hope there is a full series of it.
Still Open All Hours - 2013 Special Page 7
It was a very decent return, but it wasn't more than a re-introduction to the characters to come.
In comparison to what's on the tube (tube?... flat screen, more likely) it was an outstanding achievement, only, I insist, they took away Granville's personality and what made him very lovable.
Also, where's the milk-lady?

Mavis' sister?
Yep!

I didn't recognise her...nice to see "Thelma" again.
Mrs. Featherstone is looking almost younger than Granville these days.
TV review: Still Open All Hours - it was a w-w-worthy effort - but there's only one Arkwright http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/reviews/tv-review-still-open-all-hours--it-was-a-wwworthy-effort--but-theres-only-one-arkwright-9026351.html
Enjoyed this more than expected. Slow to start but soon won me over. Would like to see a series
Very disappointed and I hope we don't have a new series, Granville was just a poor copy of Arkwright and his son was not funny all the slapstick was copied from incidents and stories in the previous series, shame
Has this been on already?
I don't know if I want to bother watching it
Sorry to keep bitching about the episode but Granville also swapped, among other things, his cloth cap for Albert Arwright's brown coat.
I haven't seen it yet but . .

Why do you hope that there's not a new series? Those that liked it would look forward to one. You don't have to watch it (to veer into the cliche).
Like the user name btw!

As I said, I haven't seen it but I get the impression that Granville morphing into Arkwright might have been the idea?
Pointless and without merit: giving Granville Arkwright's stutter and recycling the old Jamaican ginger cake story with anchovies!
Granville's son - a reinvention of the original - brought zero to proceedings.
Almost as big a stinker as last year's Royal Bogyguard.

You weren't keen then ?

In that case just watch the original and still the best!
I never rated the original much either. It's good that it's very different to Porridge but Porridge in my opinion is far superior and in contrast makes this look quite weak (the original).
No harm in there being a Roy Clarke show on TV though!

Watched it many times, got the box set, got the t shirt.
And I don't see where your comment is relevant really.
