PENELOPE???

Hello All,

First of all im not sure im in the right forum.
But im looking for a British mini series i think about 6-8 episodes.
If it goes under the category of sitcom im not sure. But i remember i laughed and cryed hard because it was so very funny. I realy dont know much about it.

It was about a girl/women named Penelope her caracters name that is, im almost 100% on this, she was dark short haired and fairly pretty i thought. Then there was this man also dark short hair and tall. Now im sure if they were a couple or if he was a tenant in her house. But it was all about there relationship. I remember it as everything he did he always got in some strange situation. I remember they took walks around the house. I also think i remember some funny episode about a dining situation??
It was shown on danish TV in what i think must have been the 80's proberly the late half of the 80's. However there wardrope looked like early 80s i think?

Im also think im mixing some of all this up with "just good friends" but its not the one im thinking of. Allthough the women in just good friends could look like the penelope i remember.

i hope that one of you who reads can make some sence of it and tell me the name of the sitcom or whatever it is :)

sincerely Brian

ps. I apologise for spelling errors!

"Now im sure if they were a couple or if he was a tenant in her house. But it was all about there relationship."

I did the job then?

Sorry mate I haven't a clue?

OK, thanks anyway :)

what i meant was "Now im NOT sure if they were a couple or if he was a tenant in her house."

I understood what you said. But you said it was about their relationship, but you can't remember what kind, so I meant it must've not been very well written if the relationship was not clear.

But forgot what I said and welcome to the boards. It is a good place, honest!

Hmm, interesting. I can't think of what it could be personally (and I wasn't around back then, which I don't suppose helps much), and after scouring the BBC Comedy Guide the best I've been able to find is Pig in the Middle, but I really don't think that that's right.

Barry might know...

Hi

Leevil in reguard to their relationship, it was boyfriend-girlfriend or i think he wanted it to be so more than she. It's not clear because of my bad memory :) it was more 20 years ago...

to Aaron, who'a Barry?

Hi Brain,

I think I might be the Barry Aaron referring too; I’m the comedy nerd to Aaron’s comedy geek.

But it’s not ringing any bells with me, but keep delivering the clues.

The names wrong and it ran for 25 episodes but has some similarities to “Three up Two Down”

Welcome to the forum Brain.

Hi Barry,

yeah that was not it, but thanks for trying. :)

Just Good Friends?

Rising Damp?

That was my original thought, Leevil. Dismissed it at first, but now that you've said it, it does match quite a bit of the criteria...

I had the rather odd idea of 'some mothers do av em'. Simply because it fits the outline, and his wifes name is Betty which if said in a slightly odd accent sounds a bit like the end of Penelope

lol... what accent?

I think it has to be "Just Good Friends". It was Jan Francis wasn't it - the attractive girl with short dark hair although I always thought Paul Nicholas was blond. Her character's name was Penny.

It wouldn't be Man about the House or Robins Nest would it? Or the Lovers?

Hi Folks,

NO to all of it, sorry.

In my mind's eye it is the girl from "Just good Friends" but then again i might be mixing it up with something else. And it is not the guy from same...

This much is sertain. It was a boy and a girl woman/man.

This i think i remenber :)
In the house there was an old wodden staircase that "he" ran up an down. Im not sure if he lived there or he just visited her all the time. Maybe he or she was divorsed???
Im almost sertain her name was Penelope...

Thanks for trying guys :)

Brian
