I suspect there couldn't possibly be a definitive reason why we're here, because such a reason could itself be questioned. If we discovered we are here because 'X', we could just say well what if I don't care about 'X'? Then why does 'X' matter?

Thanks, that was thought provoking. I have been through this a couple of times with relatives, and there will be more times to come, including no doubt my own one day. As the article intimates there are benefits to accepting the inevitable time rather than inflicitng suffering in the hope of beating the odds.

I'm pissed off that the concept of rubbish exists. I have something I need to go and put in the bin. However, the bin is around 10 metres away and I'm in a comfortable chair.

I'm also pissed off with my inability to stay awake these days. Once, I could lie in bed and watch films quite happily. Now, I fall asleep after half an hour. Damn aging.

The latest Private Eye has a cartoon of a reindeer wearing a Christmas jumper with a middle aged bloke smoking a pipe on the front.

Although in my experience this year they're all 25-35 year olds 'Hey we're having fun!' type tossers.
