"Never trust a Tory, there'll bertrare you when it madders, there will clamber to the top and then there'll kick away the ladder" (that was a Geordie accent. Yes it was).

Catchy little ditty. :D

Glad to see you found your way over here, sg. :)

Been listening to loads of British Sea Power recently - first four albums.

Careful what you admit to doing with A Minor.

Good shout - the BBC documentary on Elektra Records from a couple of years back ended with a moving section on Harry, with Jac Holzman clearly still very affected by his loss all these years later; it also included a clip of my favourite of his songs - 'Mercenaries', which the beeb later played in full to my delight!

Very good stuff. He was someone I almost saw live. If I hadn't gone directly to work for a year on leaving school, I would have been where he was playing. I regret I missed him. Sadly, he died shortly afterwards.

Perhaps partly because he looked All American rather than a beatnik, his character was special. He certainly challenged preconceptions. He is also in the much maligned category of the 1970s singer-songwriter. I was prepared to go against the trend on their behalf in the 1980s on account of their tremendous songcraft.

I love Tracey Thorn too and agree with your comment. That song was very recent. Possibly 2012. The Julian Cope track is the B side to "Charlotte Anne" and on "Floored Genius Vol 2". Think it is from a BBC session. I have also seen it listed as "Christmas Morning" without the "u" so the exact title is debatable.
