It seems like forever since the submission deadline.

Hey, longtime lurker. I went to both recordings. They did Eps 1 & 2 on Monday night and Eps 3 & 4 tonight (Wednesday).

Firstly, the actors were outstanding. Very talented and made the sketches come alive.

In terms of the writing I thought Eps 1 & 2 were quite strong, nicely organised and gelled well. The audience laughed heartily, the actors sunk their chops in and had a ball and it just worked.

Eps 3 & 4 were really....not good. The sketches were confusing, wordy and did not seem to go together. Some of the same jokes were re-used in different sketches (not reoccurring) which just felt lazy. Some of the scenarios were too similar to the first episodes, without actually being reoccurring sketches, which again felt wrong.

The actors seemed embarrassed at times, which was maybe more obvious to someone who had seen them shine so brightly on Monday. <---Apologies if your sketch ends up in either of these Eps; there were some funny moments, they were just buried under a lot of rubbish.

I can't do a rundown of the sketches as there were so many however if you want to post or PM me your sketch in a 1 line summary I can tell you from memory if it was done.

Neither of my submissions were done thus far.

Hi,
The two that I submitted where:
1) the enigma machine and the computer that beat gary Kasparov at chess now confined to a futuristic computer museum and being endlessly abused by 10 year olds and whingin about their former glories.

2) an android who realises he's not the most suitable person for an episode of a celebrity family tree programme.

Hi Pete.

Neither of those sound familiar. As I've been saying via PM to a couple others, there is still eps 5 & 6 to be recorded on 8th Jan, so don't give up hope yet! :)

Cornball, you mentioned they were 'outstanding actors' - do you know their names? Thanks.

Mr C, did they actually have repeating characters/set ups across the episodes?

Catriona Knox, Jamie Demetriou, Jenny Bede, Waen Shepherd and Kieran Hodgson. Catriona stood out in particular for me. Waen acted as the narrator/lead.

Yes. The kitchen appliances one was in most of the eps so far. There were two (poss three) about a device that lets your cat speak...and he turns out to be really annoying.

They also had some sketches that repeated in the same episode: A women receiving annoying phone calls from PPI, Accident chasing firms, etc however she actually wants to speak to them and that flummoxes them, Another was 'Remember the 2490's'. Both of these sketches repeated 3 times if I recall correctly.

Ah. If they've done a PPI/compensation culture one then I'm guessing that kicks my "Mutation Lawyers 4 U" sketch into the long grass.

How is that a sci-fi sketch though?

I was there on Monday. That is a good question. I asked the same thing when they did a internet dating sketch, but instead of using the internet, it was via the phone - i.e. press 1 for love of your life etc.

I would have thought telephones would be a little passe in 2525.

Yep, I thought that too. The PPI/Accident calls were by 'holographic' phone, whatever that was supposed to be!

BTW, out of the PMs of sketch summaries I've been sent so far, I haven't had a single one from the recordings. Would be interesting to know the percentage of submissions they took versus commissioned pieces.

Well done to all who got in.

If youre in, youre in

If you're out, you're out

Either way its either a credit and a modest cheque, and maybe a producer to email

Not too much to get over excited about, just enjoy the anticipation of the waiting

Thanks for taking the trouble to report chaps. Sounds like they might have front loaded the best sketches into episodes 1 & 2 to try and win/hold an audience.

I submitted one about 'Fecees the Gleerak' accidentally enrolling at a Clone School, having mistaken it for a 'Cantonese Language One' class...?

On Monday I had a sketch which, if it was NJ I would think it might be mine (There was an element of premise close to one of my sketches). Though as it's 2525 I doubt it is.
