Nb before we all get to excited sociopath and psychopath like many clinical terms mean

I haven't a clue, but he's pretty scary in it

And are usually applied post mortem so to speak.

Psychiatry is one of the most I'll developed, but most enthusiastically discussed medical sciences

Got me in one !

You are warm and empathic with a heightened awareness of social responsibility and a strong sense of conscience.
You like to carefully weigh up the pros and cons of a situation before you act and are generally averse to taking risks.
You are very much a 'people person' and dislike conflict. 'Do unto others...' are your watchwords.
But, although you avoid hurting others, those residing at the higher end of the psychopathic spectrum might not be as considerate, so stay vigilant to avoid being hurt unnecessarily.

Sherlock says he's a highly functioning sociopath.
I <3 highly functioning sociopaths.

(Who look like Sherlock.)

Lovey Agreed on that count.

:P

Here's a question - all the TV shows that feature variations on the Sherlock-style sociopath, which character do you normally identify with the most?

Like Dexter and stuff?
If the writing's any good, and the psycho is the main character, I probably will identify with him, yes. :)

In America it's crazy. The DSM (the manual they rely on there) is basically just made up as far as I can tell!

I had chairman Mao's fave dish the other night

Pork belly with plenty of chilli and thought I bet old rocker would like this

I couldn't watch Dexter. I kept feeling guilty on his behalf. I'm properly weak.

I only watched about half a season. But I did like it.

That's weird, isn't it, because presumably we're supposed to identify with the Watson-equivalent audience surrogate, but I never do.

DSM is very political and extremely commercial, but stuff like pervasive none compliance disorder
Which is sort of sociable autism is helpful

But stuff like kids getting diagnosed as transgendered before their teens scares the shit out of me

Probably just siphoned off episodes of Cracker.

Yeah! I know! If you had asked me up until the age of 10 what I wanted to be when I grew up I most likely would have said "a boy". Up until I was a teenager I was convinced that boys were just better than girls and refused to wear girls' clothes. It must happen a lot in childhood and you grow out of it.

I guess if you think of yourself as a bit of a weirdo (which obviously all the best people do), you're not always going to identify with the everyman character.
Even if the weirdo has a few little faults. Like being a big old murderer.
