Fools Day - Blur

I really like that track. Wasn't so keen on the two they released last year. They were ok, but nothing magical about them.

Having been a big 90s boy, re-listening to a lot of Blur I can't help but think I over-estimated them. How about you?

Weirdly, I used to hate/grudgingly accept Oasis, but now find their 90s stuff tolerable - even uplifting.

Maybe when you pass 40 your critical faculties simply fall apart? I think the Government should be doing more on this issue!

I'm sorry to hear you were obese in the 90s, Tim. You've certainly slimmed down in the years since.

I still love Blur. Don't listen to them as much as I used to, but there's still a special place in my heart for them. Oasis, I still like, but not as much. There wasn't quite enough invention in them for my liking. They still used to release the odd belter now and then, though, like The Importance of Being Idle.

I was almost shocked when I learned that the theme tune to Lead Balloon ("One Way Road") sung by Paul Weller was actually written by Noel Gallagher.

One Way Road

A surprisingly sophisticated sounding and laid back tune for an "Oasis-song".

I used to love Oasis ca. "Definitely Maybe"/"Morning Glory" but every new realease since then was disappointing and unimaginative imo. Blur (and maybe Pulp) was the band from that era of 'British Invasion pop' who had the real substance.

I really like the fiddle in this song, even if (like all their songs) it goes on for about a minute too long.

Watching Xanadu - Mull Historical Society

A band I've been meaning to investigate for about 12 years. Really like their 2001 album Loss.

"Never trust a Tory, there'll bertrare you when it madders, there will clamber to the top and then there'll kick away the ladder" (that was a Geordie accent. Yes it was).
