Help needed: looking for film shown at Christmas

Hello everyone,

I am desperately trying to find a film I saw late one evening/night on the BBC around Christmas time a few years ago.

The film was British and looked to be made in the late 70s or early 80s. None of the actors looked familiar to me. It was set in a (upper)middle class house around Christmas. A family (grandparents, kids and their kids) were coming together. There was an affair going on and a few other family secrets and plots as well. I can't exactly remember which of the BBC channels it was on, but it was a repeat and on quite late in the evening and apparently some sort of classic (that's what the lady voice over said).

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

I will appreciate all help.

Cheers,
Jacqueline

Can you rememeber the cast?

Sounds a bit like Alan Ayckbourn's First Person Singular; the action unfolded over three Christmasses. It starred Gefforey Palmer, Prunella Scales and Michael Gambon.

No, I didnt recognise any of the actors. But it was definitely a film or film for TV and not a play.

I would love to have heard that:

"And now on BBC2, a film which is apparently some sort of classic..."

well... that's not exactly what she said ;-)

Laughing out loud

I found the title. It is called Season's Greetings a 1986 TV film adaption of an Alan Ayckbourn play.
