Did you ever get a chance to see him perform, Gordon?
I never did.
He seemed like he'd be around forever.

Yes, I did. In 1992, the reformed Velvet Underground were U2's supporting act. It was a time when great multimillion-Bands (in this case U2) did gigs in my hometown Basel. These days I have to travel to Zurich or Geneva to see the great concerts.
Anyway, in 1992 I was probably a bit too young to fully appreciate the Velvet's set. I was more impressed by The Stereo MCs then (dumb young Gordon!!!). Years later I've become a great VU/Lou Reed fan...no one can take away from me the fact that I've seen Reed/Cale/Tucker/Morrison live in concert! That makes me proud.
Oh yes, and U2 were ok too that night...

I recognise some of those sentiments - and I was older!
Was in a group of six people trying to find our way around Glastonbury for the first time in 1993. VU were on early on that weekend - most were more excited by the prospect of seeing the Kinks - so we only caught parts of the set. I saw more of Lou Reed at Benicassim, near Valencia, in 2004 but was again "required" at some point to go to a tent. Not sure what. Possibly a Todd Terry DJ thing. I wasn't leaping around with joy.
I wonder how many radio stations around the country played Perfect Day on the day of the worst storms in this country for years?

I saw him twice. Once supporting the Who with Bad Company and many others at Charlton Athletic;s Valley. He'd just gone blond then.
I also saw the reformed Velvets although they were heading the bill in London.
I've got a few VU albums, but I was never really blown away by them. Transformer though is a magnificent solo album. May have to load it up in the car tomorrow.

McBusted are touring. Wow. The amalgamation of two of the greatest rock bands in recent history! Can it really be true?

If only I could get a ticket . . .
I'd even be prepared to throw in my Black Sabbath ticket for December if it would help clinch the deal. .

Almost as spectacular as this:
Is this a new era of supergroups? Shall I throw my Blind Faith, CSNY or ELP CDs into the bin?
NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE BLOODY STUPID BASTARDS!
I watched the Made of Stone documentary about The Stone Roses reunion yesterday. It never gets that in depth with the band unfortunately. Most fans would be expecting to hear how and why they got back together. Sadly, these answers never come. Maybe that's for another documentary as this one seems to concentrate on the build up to Heaton Park. It ends with a fantastic portion of that set where John Squire really lets rip. I'd say 7/10 as it could have been much more interesting.
So, what other band documentaries do you like? I don't own that many, but I really like Starshaped and No Distance Left to Run by Blur. Dipping into the Beatles Anthology is always a treat too.
No Direction Home about Bob Dylan.
Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone was really good. And I saw a really long one about Tom Petty on BBC Four, last year, that was very informative.
