Who plays the last post on a keyboard? Got to be worst cop out ever. I shall be playing it on a cornet.
Quote: sootyj @ 5th November 2013, 8:11 PM GMTThe only time I played the last post was a gig up a telephone pole.
I saw that. One of your best I thought.

It's where my parents live and where the band I'm currently playing for reside. Spooky coincidence or what.

Is there nothing you won't do for a laugh?
I wear my Poppy with pride, there are a trillion subjects to be funny on so use them and stay clear of the Last Post as it is symbolic of acknowledging those who die and their passing deserving remembrance.
Not sure what pride has to do with wearing a poppy. It's about remembrance and sorrow and acknowledgement of sacrifice. Not sure what I have got to be proud of for wearing one apart from putting a quid in the pot or whatever. But I have never been in the armed forces.
Lazzard please don't see me as the comedy police. I think you should say what you want, but at the same time you should be aware of the issue and why some may not find it tasteful.
My mate lost his lad two years ago, he is now a shadow of his former self, his wife (the lads mum) had a breakdown and his sister is an alcoholic.
They were just a normal family from a council estate and it destroyed them as it does all families of those who die whilst serving.
For those who come home limbless the agony continues, so for me buzzing off the last post is tacky.
I would never ask for a post to be taken off as I believe in free speech, I just air my views and hope they are noted. nothing more.

Marc I am quoting someone else as 'Wear your Poppy with Pride' is the accepted slogan of those who have been in the Armed forces so I bow to their interpretation.

Don't tell me to steer clear of subjects, then
Freedom of speech might just have been one of the things some of those soldiers died for.
Well like I said I haven't been in the armed forces. No offence intended just there are issues about Remembrance day that are hijacked by politicians etc that I find a tad distasteful. I don;t agree with burning effigies of Guy Fawkes either by the way - which people find odd but I don't.
Lazard I'm not telling anyone what to do and I apologise if I came across like that, I just think the subjects raw I never said stop it.
