I'm not sure it matters all that much as stand up comics are in the business of making heavily rehearsed material sound off-the-cuff. It does make Andy Parsons' awful jokes a bit unforgivable, though...

Why the spinning wheel then?...do it at least openly, you cheaters!

:D

Was the stuff on Whose Line Is It Anyway spontaneous? Surely most if not all of it was. It does seem weird that there aren't people who can be/who are allowed to be funny off the cuff anymore.

The subjects were all offered up by random shouts from the audience

So I'm sure it was all spontaneous

They simply don't have people on mock the week with the skills of Josey Lawrence and Ryan Styles

Faked audience?...Mr. "Conspiracy Theory" Lofthouse?

They were suggested by shouts from the audience, but Clive Anderson was picking the ones he likes...maybe he had stooges! Dun Dun Duuuuun!

Nah, I think Whose Line was properly improvised, as most of them are still at it twice a week at The Comedy Store. Some people have a talent for improv, others not so much.

Improv is its own art I suspect they have a mixture of guessing whats likely to come up and bending their own material.

That's so unfair, the dead can't defend themselves. Maybe he wouldn't be happy to make a duet with her. Why doesn't she sing a duet with Justin Bieber...he'd love the publicity.

Alison Holt takes Kate Silverton's wind breaking (23secs) in her stride, in today's BBC News at one.

Laughing out loud

Do real people in everyday life ever say "sticks in the craw"? Or only politicians, and people on telly/radio?

I do
