Well done you :)

Thank you Andy! :D

Well done - join the club.

May be getting carried away but I've submitted three this week.

Schools out about the Free School being closed by Ofsted.
Sally - about Ms Bercow
Brasil - regarding England qualifying for the World Cup finals.

Good luck - I only just realised that all my emails from Newsrevue were going straight to 'spam' (I thought I'd fallen off the list). I quickly sent off a couple of jokes tonight but I know it was too late (7pm). I'll be more on the ball for next week! :D

I can't believe it!!! I got a song on there! I only just got the email because it got stuck in my spam mail. Soooooo happy!
:D

I'm too sexy?

Who was it about?

Yes! Ed Miliband at the Labour Party Conference.

Thank you Blahblah :)

And while I'm here - thanks to the people who responded to my request for help in getting the tone of the show. I'd actually sent off some material before I saw the generously offered past submissions and had a V/O on the show, so maybe my 1-liners were in the right area but you've really helped with sketches.

Which brings me to my current set of questions... I've sent a few songs off, but aren't sure about the specific rules/preferences for songs. So would anyone be kind enough to advise me:

Do they seem to prefer intros/setups to songs or just a song in isolation?

Does anyone put reasonably detailed stage directions in songs? If so - how do you do it without ruining the flow of the song?

Must parody songs match the length of the original? E.G. If a song is actually Verse Verse Chorus Verse Chorus middle 8 chorus Verse Chorus would you have to match they, or if the point/joke is made with Verse Verse Chorus Verse Chorus would they be fine with that?

Must parody songs avoid repetition or are repeated (or partially repeated) choruses fine?

I've read various tips I've seen about parody songs, but most seem to refer to Treason, which, even if similar, is a different show...

I asked in the email for one submission, but expect I've more chance of an answer here. :)

Hi Judgement Dave,
If you PM me your email address I am happy to send you the song I did.
:D

Well I think from my experience you echo the original to some extent but don't drag it out too long. Just make it funny.

Hello, everyone

I've submitted some stuff to News Revue in the past, and went to a show last year so (I think) I've got an idea of what they're looking for.

When is the best time time to submit material - eg end/beginning of week?

Thanks!

I try and send stuff in by Monday or Tuesday as I think they start rehearsals on Wednesday. They also send out requests later in the week sometimes for voiceovers.

Thanks, Shandonbelle.

Actually got a reply to an email for a change, to tell me that I had used the old director's email address.

For an open-sub show, they don't give out much encouragement do they?

That sounds pretty decent of them to me!

I've just got an email from them asking for my address. Are they sending me a cheque? :)

Never realised they asked for submissions on specific topics.

All looks a bit clearer now I'm on the mailing list.

See if they liked my take on the White Widow's poem to Osama :)
